Default I want to ride, but can I?

Me and my brother agreed that we're going to buy a 2004 Honda CBR 600RR together in about a month. I passed MSF a couple of weeks ago and there's only one concern on my mind. My brother is about 5'7 and I'm only 5'4 so I don't know if my body could accommodate the size of the bike that we're going to buy. Is 5'4 an appropriate size to ride the CBR? If not, what should I do? Thanks in advance!

You can one-foot it. I know of a girl who is all of about 5'1" (maybe) who rides a 600RR. However, for the both of you I would recommend doing A LOT of parking lot practice. Low speed is what is going to be your biggest challenge. All it takes is a little bobble to turn into a big problem if you can't put both feet down.

Low speed for any sportbike is a pain in the *** because there is very little turning radius on the bike, hence why you're leaning so damn much on high speed turns.
You should be able to do it, I am not much taller and ride fine on a stock 03 gsxr which is taller than the current gsxr.
I usually have my right foot down and the my left foot on the rear set while my front right hand is on the brake.
Keep in mind though, on uneven road surfaces, while stopping, I still find myself tip toeing on both of my feet when coming to a stop because it helps me gain stability.

if i were you id take the money you collected to buy one bike and buy two cheaper bikes. you will drop the bike, because you're both shorter the bike is twice as likely to be dropped, and because one bike is being shared its 1000000 times more likely to be dropped and several times. plus, its no fun to sit on the curb watching somebody else ride. just get a couple early to mid 90's bikes to ride together. they'll be shorter seat heights so easier for you, easier power to manage for a begginer, and way cheaper to fix anything that may break. honestly, sharing a motorcycle isnt like sharing a car. to me its more like sharing a wife or something.

Sharing a bike has to be one of the dumbest things I've heard of, no offense. Think about it, all your hard earned money is going for HALF a bike. If your brother wrecks it will he refund your money? Who's name is the insurance going to be under? Because if you're carrying the insurance and he wrecks it, your insurance is going to go up thats IF you can even get full coverage.

Take the money that you have earned and go buy a cheaper 250/500 and take some time to save more money. By the time you earn enough money you will have acquired the skills to properly ride a 600cc race bike. Good luck in your decision.

I won't even touch this one...

...okay, I lied.

As pretty much everybody is stating, start off smaller (and on individual bikes). If you aren't sure if you can ride a 600rr, then you probably can't. Go try on several bikes in the 500cc or less range, and buy a pair of them. That way you will have twice as much time to practice, and work your way up to being ready for a sportier bike.

I'm 5'8" and the seat height was perfect for me to flat foot it on my F4i. What's the seat height on an RR? Buy a couple of Ninja's instead. a 250R and a 500R for what you're going to spend on that RR. You could even get three 250R's.

as your 5 feet and can one side it you can ride. all my friends use the excuse that they're a bit short 5'4" a few of them and they say they can reach the floor. i'm a little under 5'6" and i have no problem riding my 600rr or GSXR before that. i mean low speeds, parking is a bitch but u get the hang of it.

Why do people think its a good idea to buy a brand new bike for their first? I'm not sure I know anyone who bought a brand new car after getting their drivers license.

Don't know why everyone says not to buy a new bike if you are learning how to ride, it all depends on balance and your confidence. I am 5"4" and bought a 2005 CBR 600RR brand new not knowing how to ride, I did fine and didn't drop it at all. I one footed the bike for awhile, then just invested in buying lowering links to drop it a little and worked perfectly for me.

But I wouldn't share bikes though, save more money and get 2 bikes, I am pretty sure you guys are going to want to ride at the same time and fight for it

i dont think height is an issue when riding. its all confidence and practice. I'm 5'4 and my fiance is even shorter and we both ride just fine. Sharing bikes on the other hand is a BAD idea. Save a little more and get 2 used bikes.

There is a much bigger issue to deal with. One of you will wreck that bike soon. Who knows who will do it, but I wanna know who is gonna pay for the damages? What if its a fatal crash? How will you feel if your brother dies on a motorcycle you own, even if it is owned by him as well?

Please don't think I'm an ******* or anything of the such. These are honestly real question that you should consider AND answer before purchasing. I love motorcycles as much as the next guy. Hell, I had my YZ250 about 10 feet in the air today and had a blast doing it. But I knew the risk associated with jumping stuff and I think you need to re-evaluate your situation before getting into something like that. I'm not sure if you really clear on what type of a responsibility a street bike is. The last thing I want to hear is another member of the H-T family losing a life.

Because you are far more likely to damage or wreck a bike when you are a new rider, which is a FAR more expensive prospect on a new bike.

You'll be fine. I bought an F4i as my first bike, I am good on it. I rather have my both foot flat on the ground, but whatever.

you should go to one of the dealerships and sit on their bikes, they''' be more than welcome... basically you can sit on most if not all sportbikes.
GSXR will be the best for shawties like you tho
