Default Lowering my new bike.

I am looking to buy the 2008 R6 when it comes out. The thing is, that bike has the highest seat height. I would like to at least put the bald of my feet down on this bike. I was wondering if lower it about 1.5inches, how would it really affect the suspension. I saw the spec on the new R6 and it's at a 33.5 inch seat height.

For those that lowered their bike, do u notice a significant different on the cornering?

I am only 5'5 164 pounds. I currently ride an F4i and is on tippiest of my tippy toe. And that bike is only 32.7 inch in seat height.

THANKS!

With the sag set properly, you ought to be able to do the one-cheek-sneak. My co-worker is 5' 5", 140 pounds, and rides a 2006 R1 without any problems. He has the rear shock set to the lightest setting, and wears a nice thick riding boot.

Can we just stick to the ******* topic?

Edit: I just looked at the seat height on the F4i I am riding right now. It's 31.9 inch. It's actually a different of 1.6 inch. That's a pretty big different for someone is on a bare tippy toe.

easy solution: don't lower it and spend more time riding not standing

shave the seat down, lowering sportbikes is blasphemy

ok get your flame suit on.. threads like this are always gonna get flamed on, but to tell you the truth if u need to lower it go for it.. again it will affect handling. i have ridden on a lowered 600rr 1.5 inch drop, it does feel different than stock, it felt like it wanted to stand up in sharp turns. but again, if you cant 1 cheek sneak or anything you dont have any other options that lowering

There was a 12 year old kid on an 02-05 R6 at the HT track day and he looked just fine in the staging lane with one cheek off on his tip toe.

Here we go

Point is, there is no reason to lower your bike. So don't.

I am the same height at 125lbs, I have no problems whatsoever with my 06 R6. Just slide back and forth. It's not that big of a deal. Or get some thick boots or cut your seats down or replace with just a pad. Save that money for a nice pair of gloves or something.

Bike doesn't handle anywhere near the same that it did when it's lowered that much. You won't notice that when you go back and forth to the starbucks

Thanks! That is very encouraging. Believe me, I do not want to mess with the suspension. I just dont' want to feel uncomfortable riding my bike. I am not looking to take that bike to its limit or anything. Just cruising the beach side is what I do with my bikes.

it just so happens that harley makes a whole line of bikes with that specific purpose in mind. And you can flat foot all of them!

how tall are you? cause im 5'5 or 5'6 and the gix is perfect for my height. my brother got a 06 r6 and i believe that is the highest bike rite now for 600s. had a hard time at the stop light but im used to it now.
