so i've been sitting on my set for quite some time. i'm probably going to buy a set of 205/60/13 RA1's and run them. although i'm slightly iffy about it. i know lot of ppl have autox with them with success. but how about rr?!
has anyone ever seen a set broke? I hope not.
if you didn't know about these they are pretty nifty. originally designed as drag fronts... weights about 9 lbs... and they clear GSR brakes.

the thought of what would happen if the spokes break is quite unpleasant guess it's not worth it. hmm...

well, we kinda have to give it some credit since it has been holding up more than it was originally designed for already.... i guess i'll be the guinny pig!
i'll start with street tires first and daily it to see how that holds up first.

I don't know anyone who's EVER broken a wheel that wasn't previously damaged by autoxing on it. There's just not that much stress put on it.

are you saying autox isn't too stressful on a wheel and a normal/undamaged wheel shouldn't be damaged by autox?

I'm assuming autox is the "more than it was originally designed for already", right?
I assumed so, with my comment meaning that autox isn't a test of a wheel's strength.

i believe the 13x7.5 VPD were made for off road drag racing use only. unlike their street VPD cousins which carry VIA certification... autox = more load than drag... and i'd think rr = higher load than ax.

I agree, but more than "load" I think the sudden impacts of berms and such would be the more important thing to consider.

Ding, ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. What sort of shock loads do you think a wheel will see if you end up running across the dirt/grass at 85mph? How about banging over the curbs? I suspect that it'll be more load and of a different type than a drag wheen was designed for.

About the only wheels I've seen break from driving on street and autoxing are a few of the Rota models with the this spokes. But, cast + light is a disaster waiting to happen.
The Lensos are light, but they are only 13" wheels. Also, the spokes are thick and short enough to withstand a decent amount IMO.
If it were me, I wouldn't be afraid to run them. If it's just an HPDE, then stay off the berms if it worries you a lot. But, you're still on a 60 series sidewall...and that will absorb a lot of impact.
Point is, I wouldn't worry too much.
