Default motor go boom.

hey guys. i have a 97 lx 4dr with a non vtec f22 and it blew up on my way home last night. i know the most popular swaps are the f20b and the h22 but unfortunately i dont have obd2 h22 money but i do have the money for an f20b long block. what do u think? im kinda limited to budget because im in the middle of building a b series for my ej. the car is a daily driver so im really not concerned with the power output of it. i just need it to be reliable. its an automatic also.

either rebuild the current motor or go source out a used F22, whichever one is cheaper, is what i would do.

^^^ just scroll down twards the bottom.

dont know if those H22's are automatic transmissions. then there is ebay. but i would just rebuild or get a used f22b2 engine. and as for the F20 engines, i heard that some of the parts for that engine are hard to find here in the states.

ok what do u guys think about this... $700 for a f22 non vtec motor with 56,000 (the motor that came with the car) and $500 for a auto tranny same mileage.

and would there be any noticable gains if i were to put and obd2 h22a4 head on the f22 block?

Just buy another f22 since it is just your daily car and make it simple. You need the daily car to be reliable correct? Then do the simple fix and keep it relialble.

Also that is way to expensive for a used f22. They can be had for 200-400 depending on where you find them. Look around at local salvage yards and I am sure you will find them cheaper than 700.

even though your car is your daily driver you still seem slightly concerned with power... lol jus by the things you say like ppl jus say rebuild it n stuff n you jus kinda ask sum more about the h or the f20.. lol but it's all good

ne way I would say 1100 is a pretty damn good deal. I'd say go for it... but if you seriously dont have the money for it dont get it... if you like your eg more jus make it your badass car n jus fix up what you have...

sorry bout the loss but good luck
