Default Suggestions on this rebuild

Okay, I just bought a Lude, has 140k and needed a tranny....

I took the engine out last night, finally after a couple of days of problems, it comes with a engine and bolts this old and with this milage

Heres the things that are going to be performed on this Motor
Replacing the Following:
- Head Gasket
- Timing Belt, PS belt, All Belts LOL
- Water pump & Seal
- Plugs and Wires
- Motor oil
- Tranny

Things Im considering
- Buying a Complete seal rebuild kit....I want to replace all seals on this motor...

Future plans
- I want to build the motor inside and out, pistens, rods etc
- Eventually get it boosted

I need suggestion on what lil things I can right now that the motor is out...

Strapping the motor up

Obvious it had a leak lol

personally i would repair it and thats it. if itll be just a daily driver id boost on stock internals unless youve got the money sitting around to build it.

if your already going to buy pistons and rings and rods and such, just go ahead and buy things that are forged... so you wont have to do this again all over again after you boost it

Why the head gasket? If you're going to pull the head, there are a lot of things you can do "while you're at it" but it doesn't make sense to just replace the head gasket.

Cap and rotor probably need replacing if you're doing the wires.

What else do you suggest I do while the head is off?

For now I want to get her running smooth without any problems...The performance stuff will be at a later time, when the money is there....this is going to be my daily car...I drive a lot so I want it build it right...I still got to do cosmetics things too....

I basically want the car to last another 140k LOL...

If you're going turbo later, I'd save the $ for that.

if you want peace of mind, get some new valves and a valve job. while you are doing all of the gaskets and seals, it doesnt make much sense not to change bearings and re-ring the pistons. you are going to have it 75% torn down, why not make it 100%?

I would not reinstall rings without honing the block. I would also NOT reuse pistons. Those will need to be replaced and the cylinder bores will need to be honed to get the clearance in spec. By going from 75% to 100% on the rebuild, you're going to probably double the cost or more.

One other note, you cannot reuse the rod studs.

why all that hasle to rebuild it, get ur self a H22 and call it a day, cuz then you will try to spend money on modifing this motor, when u have h22 you'll be fine with

I want to do all this but money is an issue for now....Im getting rid of my 07 SI for this car...I dont want any car notes anymore, Law school is coming up soon as well...I need to invest on the cosmetics of the car as well...

So if I change the head gasket, I have to get new rod studs???

because that f22 can handle a hell of alot more boost then the h22 all stock.. not to mention you can run forged internals without any problems

Yes f22 can handle more boost, I learned this after I got this car, which makes me happy lol...

I used Dupli-color....Power washed the engine about 5 times to get all the oil/dirt/stains out then I did about 5 coats of paint...I painted the block, head one color...the brackets a darker shade and then the vavle cover....

The header look blue now...I just buffed the paint yesterday, I'll post pics up...Im a detailer so I'm half way on the detailing of the car...Still need the interior....
