Default School me about alarms

I'm lookin for an alarm.I dont really want anything fancy like remote start or anything.BUT what i am looking for is something that tells me when my alarm is going off while im school or work.

What kind of alarm am I looking for?

Also where is the best place to get it?should i just go to best buy/circuit city and get one installed there?or can i get a cheaper and better model online and go get it installed someplace?

thanks

Whatever you end up getting, get it from an authorized dealer, and if your not comfortable installing it yourself, have an authorized dealer do it, it is the only way you are going to get the lifetime warranty on the unit and the install.

Compustar and DEI both make good 2way paging alarm systems, if your on a budget look into Audiovox , [Prestige] alarms, 94

grime stopper....ewwwwwwwwwww. Take fcm advice and get it from a dealer and try to get a dei unit or compustar. Any 2 way lcd or led will do the job if its installed right.

The two way paging alarm is only good for a certain distance so if your in class a good ways away from your car you wont receive a signal to notifying you, but there is a add on pager alarm I don't know if they still make it but it triggers from your siren out put and sends it to a pager that you carry separately it beeps and vibrates like a beeper when the alarm is triggered. I think it is called car pager. I found this out when a customer came in to replace one of his sirens in his car, as I was replacing his siren under the dash I saw it checked it out it looked old school. I never seen or heard anything about this product so I talked to the customer about it and he said that he is a college professor and that it works great for him while he is teaching in class. He said that he parks about a good 3 blocks or so from his class and he receives the signal every time his alarm goes off. I don't know if it can transmit that far to his pager but that is what he said. Just thought you might like to know.
