Default Well that does it. I think I'm putting the R up for sale.

I walked out to my car today to go to work to find the steering wheel lying on the driver seat. I didn't even feel like looking any further so I just turned right around and went back inside to call work.

This is the THIRD time in just a matter of 2-3 months that my cars have been broken into. I just got the Type-R back last month from it's first theft attempt.....then just last week my daily driver (a B17 DA Integra) was broken into as well (steering column busted, CD player stolen, window shattered, etc).....and now the Type-R has been busted into again. The sad thing about it is that I actually live in a very nice part of town and my cars are always parked right out in the open at the main entrance of my apartment complex AND we have an on-site Police Officer that lives at the complex.

I'm trying to sell a piece of land so I can get started on building my house but who knows how long that is going to be and until then my R is just going to be ripe for the picking. I mean I could hide the thing far away but honestly what is the damn point of owning a car and paying insurance on it if you can't even drive it?

So anyways what do you think I should ask for it once it's back from the dealers? The body has 95,000mi, average wear and tear but it has a BRAND NEW factory short block and transmission.....I'm talking less than 2,000mi on both of them. I'll most likely be getting the car detailed by a guy that has had his car on the cover of a few magazines so I assure you it will be looking pretty pimp inside and out. I'm thinking $15,000 would be a good starting point?

I think a 2003 CL Type-S 6 speed is calling my name. Opinions?

< frustrated.

Rent some storage space for it till your garage is ready. Don't do anything drastic like sell it.

sorry to hear you had all that happen man. Personally I wouldn't sell it, but those new CL Type S's are bad ***. As for the $15 K I think you could easily get that considering you have basically a brand new engine. If you sell it, I wish you the best of luck, but I would like to see you hang on to it.

Yep and yep. Sucks you even have to consider doing this over a $15k car these days.

More info about your R would help in judging the price.

One owner, purchased new Feb 2001.

Exterior is stock. Wheels have some curbing from 94,000mi of use, etc, normal paint wear and tear, small scratch on one of the rear quarter panels, small dent on one of the fenders.

Interior is stock except for Defi oil pressure/temperature gauges mounted in a dash gauge pod. Interior WAS in normal condition until thieves ripped into it. I'll assess the damage tonight but rest assured since I have full coverage anything broken/misplaced in the interior will be replaced with brand new dealer installed pieces.

Modifications: Custom short ram intake with BPI velocity stack and appropriate K&N filter. JDM DC SS 4-1 header mated to a Kteller 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with Magnaflow resonator and an Oval ES style muffler painted flat black.

Bottom end: Brand new factory assembled short block purchased from Las Vegas Acura. When my stock block started burning oil instead of rebuilding it I just sold it and bought a brand new factory block so I wouldn't have to risk some shop screwing up the rebuild. For the price I sold the used block for it actually didn't cost that much more to purchase the new block than what a rebuild would have cost.

Transmission: Brand new factory transmission. Bought for the same reasons as the long block. Attached to the transmission is a Fidanza flywheel with a stock clutch.

Head: Alaniz Technologies, who does the head work on some of the 9 second all motor Honda's, completely went over my head and installed a rocket motorsports valvetrain which he personally pressure tested and matched.

Cams: Skunk2 stage I. These are extremely mild cams.

Fuel system: Precision 310cc injectors.

Engine management: Neptune RTP ECU. Fully user programmable/tunable. PLX wideband controller box and sensor.

Other: PS system has been removed and looped. Custom crank breather setup. Flamenco-T firewall oil line kit (for my gauges).

Suspension/bushing. Stock springs/shocks/sway bars. Engine mounts are Jim Fab street compound. Factory Honda Access. rear strut tower bar.

Shame about the engine, at some point having a numbers matching engine could mean some real value, but it might not matter much at this point.

That's what I do. Best $85 I have spent for the last ten months. Or, you can split a 20x20 with your Dad and pay $75 a month for a much larger space

Well it would suck for you if you sold it, but hey, I understand if you do.. As for the CL... How about a 04 or newer Honda Accord v6 coupe 6speed??? Doubt theives will want to steal that thing, and they are sweet cars.. fast too.

Got a chance to look it over tonight and got an officer to fill out a report. Looks like my dealership is going to have their work cut out for them.

1. Entire center console, AC controls, armrest, etc was ripped out. The stupid thing is the theives must not have noticed that my car no longer had the carbon fiber trim in it. I traded it for the stock black trim a long time ago.

2. Steering wheel completely removed and it looked like they tried to take the airbag out but left it in the back seat.

3. Clock and stock radio gone.

4. Dash is torn to hell and back from them ripping the center console out. They also ripped up the top part of the dash apparently trying to get to the passenger side airbag and to top if off it looks like they tried to carve something into the dash.

5. Glovebox completely broken with my **** scattered all over the car.

6. Both front seats were sliced up for no apparent reason.

I guess they were pissed off from not being able to steal it a second time and decided to just screw up as much stuff as possible.

^^ That is terrible. On the other hand...it could have been worse, as I'm sure you've already considered.

Set up a sting. Contact CNN and catch the thieves with Chris Hansen (Like to catch a predator). It would be funny him saying "Is that your Type-R?"

I'm actually wondering if this is going to total the car.

Two new seats, an entire dash, center console, air bags, steering column, etc + installation is probably going to cost a ton.

On top of that insurance JUST got done shelling out $3,000 a few months ago when it happened. Will that $3,000 factor into the new work that will have to be done to it now?

^^ So sorry to hear, but your insurance isnt gonna be happy to hear this. Im sure a steep rate increase is bout to happen.

Sadly, if the ITR were made a bait car and featured on Dateline with Hanson, the line of thieves would be as long as the line of sickos that like underaged kids.

i agree, keep your head up bro. Even though the R has to always be in storage, there is much respect for the ITR/and owners. In my opinion the ITR is what makes this scene so beautiful. Its what every tuner dreams of and drools over. Dont take that away from yourself bro haha. You said the block and tranny is pretty much new, damn good to see a R in that state. Get her repaired and store her in a garage. Its not like you can never drive her. Taking a cruise in her one day out of every week should satisfy you (i would be). GL with the situation.

Actually this is covered under my comprehensive policy which does not effect my rates.
