Anyone ever buy a bike off ebay?
I know a couple of my neighbors have, and it seemed like it worked out well for them. I was just curious as to what you experience was like and how much it was for shipping?
one of my friends buys ALL of his cars and bikes off of ebay. He only buys local, so he usually gets a ride and picks it up. He had one bike shipped from CA though, I will ask him how much shipping was.
Yes... and from the other side of the country to. One word of advice, is picture DO NOT tell the entire story, so when you buy keep a realistic view on what it is you are getting
Yeah I was wondering because I live in the sticks, and it will be minimum $150 in gas to go out somewhere and get a bike, so I figure if it's $300-500 to ship one, I can get one off ebay and maybe get "what i want" by having more options.
this is true... I hase used ebay to get exactly what i wanted as opposed to getting a better deal... but both are possible off the bay. just ask allot of questions , specially with older scooters
Only thing to consider is that fact that you can't see the bike in person, or take it for a spin to help detect problems. It may look good in the pics, but the frame may be tweaked, brakes might suck, or any number of other things could be wrong. But odds are if it's a clean looking bike, then it'll be fine. Just ask a lot of questions

I bought a used '01 Gixxer off ebay several years back. I set up an escrow account with a real escrow company http://www.escrow.com and used forward air for shipping. I forgot how much the escrow fee was, something like 5% and shipping was like $350 IIRC.
Just get good communication with the seller, ask a lot of questions, and get lots of pics.
