2000 civic si please help
Im new to the honda's and I just bought a 2000 civic si with 70k. The suspension is all set up with new struts, springs, the whole shabang. The engine is totally stock except for a new flywheel and a cold air intake. I have about 8k in cash and I want to fix up the engine but I dont really know what I should do to make it faster. Any tips would be very much appreciated thank you.
Here's a great guide, https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1676914
you can choose an LS or b20 block, but since you got 8K maybe look into a
K-series

Well I was thinking about starting off with a skunk 2 throttle body but im not sure what size I should get. And a turbo kit would be nice but would I have to do anything else to the engine to set it up for a turbo?
not being a dick, but what makes you want to start with a throttle body?
I would come up with a plan in the exact route you want to take and make a wish list of parts. Then start buying. The last thing you want to do is just start buying parts because you may change your mind in the direction you want to go.

If all you care is about going fast.. this is what do...
Find an ls bottom end from the classefieds or a junkyard... This can be had for pretty cheap.. maybe like 100$..
Get pistons and Rods. Go to a Machine Shop and have the bottom end put together.
Buy a golden eagle Ls/vtec Kit.
Pull Your b16 and put the b16 head on that..
Get a decent size turbo. Make like 400whp reliable. You will be very happy. Perfect Daily Driver.
Don't waste your money on stupid n/a upgrades on a b16 its not worth it, you will most likely loose power putting a throttle bottle on your stock motor..
Honeslty its all up to you, but going the N/A route is good but more expensive and you dont go as fast.. Yeahh it will get you more respect but if you wanna go fast build a 1.8 bottom end and then boost it.

do you honestly think that a kid who does'nt know what some of the simpelest mods on a b16 are, Is going to know how to do a k swap?
for someone who knows that they are doing, and is willing to invest more then 8k into a k swap and further mods down the road yes...
but not for a kid who does not seem to have the slightest clue on what to do. Turbo b series would be the best route to go fast.

There is no 'best'. It all comes down to personal preference and budget. If the kid has 8k, he's got 10. He can afford to pay someone who knows a little to do the swap. If he was my kid I would throw a built 2 liter 250 whp B-Series engine in and call it a day.

get a b18 block and build it, as mentioned above. the turbo wouldn't hurt.
just use the search function and spend a few hours. the more you read, the more questions you can search on, and trust me you will get some great ideas here. once you have learned you will have a better idea of what you want, and we can be of more specific help. good luck!
also - do you plan on paying someone to do this, or are you going to do this yourself? the cost of tools involved can end up matching the cost of the build, but the satisfaction of doing it yourself, with the help of honda-tech, is priceless.

ya i would be doing the work myself i have everything i need to pull the engine out and all that. where could i find a b18 engine? and what brand turbo would be best?
did you want to boost? post in the forced induction forum.
did you want to go all motor? then ask us all motor questions
step 1: find out what you really want, i.e. power goals, reliability, etc...
step 2: find out how much it will all cost
step 3: you obviously are new to most of this, so find yourself a proven builder/tuner.
hint: you're in indiana, start out with ERL.
give them a call, if not visit and speak with someone there.
they are second to none as far as building/resleeving/anything performance.
personally, i'd sell your car, buy type r, and save the rest.

Lol again. A gsr tranny bolted to a b16 would make you slower.
From the sound of it, do like everyone else says, SEARCH
you can learn so much on this website, don't pay attention to ********..

And most likely this car is your daily driver?
Go to a local Junkyard or look on the Classifieds and look for someone selling a 1.8 b series bottom end, gsr, ls its all good..
Take the time to build that and go learn about some boost.
WHen your ready you can pull your motor out of your car and put the b16 head( from your current motor) onto your built bottom end.. And there is not as much downtime.

Hope this helps
