so I'm 99.7% sure someone tried to steal my bike last night.
First off I live in a nice neighborhood. I know all of my surrounding neighbors. I do however live in a townhouse and it does have a garage but the bike can not fit in it (my mom has it packed with ****) I park the bike in like this, the blue x being the bike parked.

So this morning I go to my car to go to school and I notice the front of the bike is uncovered. I went over there and the bike was uncovered to about the end of the tank. I then thought to myself was it was windy last night because if we get some good winds it can take the cover off but normally it rips it completely off not half of the bike. I also can hear the trees rub against the siding or the screens in the windows shake. Well it sure as hell was not windy last night and I asked my mom if she noticed it to be windy and she also said no.
Now if they went to all the trouble to actually go up to it why didn't they actually take it? Well here is the ketch. I have the tank off and seat off and the carbs are just chilling up there because I took them off to clean and have yet to put it back together. The bike however has been sitting in that exact same spot for the last three weeks unmoved and from the end of our driveway it is VERY noticeable if you glance up the driveway. So my guess is that they didn't want a bike taken apart or they plan on coming back with a truck? So tonight I parked the bike against the garage and tried to put my car as close to it as possible and locked the bars.
What do you think the chances are they may come back and actually take it. I DO NOT have insurance on the bike at the moment (no the bike is not being ridden and hasn't been) so I pretty much would get fucked if it got taken from me. What else can I do to make sure they don't get it. I do have a storage unit that I put it in for the winters, but that is about 15 miles away and the bike is all taken apart. I'm scared my baby might get taken from me tonight

We were supposed to have a garage sale when the summer started and my mom kept saying she was busy. I sold my 4 wheeler and she filled in that space with more of her ****.

I think it is not covered under that. I had a car issue a long time ago and they said that that had to be covered by auto and not homeowners

I am trying to think of a way to park my bike in the living room, cept it's on the second floor. Plan is to cut hole into side of said apartment, install one lift, park bike in living space.

Homeowners or renters coverage will not cover that.
What you need to do when your not riding your bike, but to make sure it still has some sort of coverage take the liability coverage off and have just comprehensive, that way, if its stolen or gets fuxored by smeone then its got that coverage.
And the best part, its hella cheap !!

Well, I would but it is either being sold or put away for the winter that is why i dropped the insurance. I never thought my neighborhood would have this problem. I was talking to my mom and apparently someone she knows that lives by us had his 4 wheeler stolen a few days ago and the police station is litteraly right next to his house.

Townhouse means no back yard.
tell your mom either get rid of some **** or your puttin that bike in the living room, or even better... your bedroom.
Simple solution....drive down to home depot, buy the biggest damn chain you can find, strap it through both wheels, around the frame and lock it to your car with some huge *** lock.

Well ok, we have a front yard and a rear yard. We actually got the good unit haha. We have a true front yard but the back is small, small like we can put a deck back there and maybe an inflatable pool haha.

I was going to but when I talked to my mom about the weather last night they were already closed. Tomorrow after school I may go stop by there. I just put my bumper right on the bike. I mean if someone wants it they can get it but it is not going to be as easy as just pushing it out like it would have been before. My car has an alarm i think also so if they break a window to try to back the car up or something it will go off.

Some possible helpful information. I was just reading in a R1 Forum:
Some guy had his bike stolen very proffessionally. Supposedly somewhere on every bike there is a 4 digit code somewhere located on the bike. Some Yamahas have it located right under the gas cap. So what they will do is get the 4 digit code take it to the dealership and get a key to your bike.
So this first night couldve been just some homework to get the code.

You must present proof of ownership or registration to do get a duplicate key made. It's not just as easy as walking in and getting a key.
I also call BS on the mysterious code. The key cut parameters are usually accessed by VIN. Some bikes may habe the key information on the bike, but it's certainly not all of them.

On hondas, there's no key lookup by VIN, only in the paperwork issued to the dealer that sold it new (maybe the MSO?) - and on the older bikes there is a 4 digit code on the ignition cylinder that a key can be cut off of. Remember the fiasco when I bought my F4i?

I had the gas tank off so they could not have gotten the code.
I also didnt have the bars locked. If they really wanted it I am thinking they could have taken it. I mean all you would have to do is wheel is out of the driveway.

Thats what I'm trying to say, when its put away for the winter or not being ridden for long periods of time still have at least comp on it so if something happens there is coverage. Comp alone for the winter will probably cost you not much more than a couple tanks of gas. Worth the money in my opinion and its what I do to any vehicle that is unused for more than 30 days. Cover your *** !!!
