whats the difference in the 1gen teg motor and the ZC?
Alright my friend just bought a 87 civic hatch in great condition just a bad engine well he already pulled the 1.6 dohc motor out of a 86(could be wrong on year but am pretty sure) in which hes going to swap into the civic (btw hes selling his vtec del sol if anyone is interested).
Im curious because I went to the junkyard the other day and found the exact same motor in pristine condition in a rear end wrecked up older teg. What is the difference in the 1.6 dohc usdm motor and the ZC????
I might offer the junkyard guys some cash for the motor, what kinda mounts would I need for that or would it bolt in? I figure I can get the motor and everything for only 400 im sure. maybe cheaper.

The brown top ZC for the 84-87 civics, Compared to the 86-89 integra motor there isnt substantial hp differences so theyre pretty much the same exact motor except the cams. If your talking about an 88-91 civic you want the black top ZC you do not want the older integra setup(86-89) in an 88-91 those motors are weak in the heavier cars. If its for an 84-87 then the brown top ZC and the 86-89 integra motor will both directly bolt in. I dont think theres enough difference in the brown top ZC and the 86-89 teg motor to go through the trouble of trying to find a ZC. Hope that helps.
