Default 2nd gear synchro on '00 EX

ok, so im not asking wuts wrong with my car b/c im aware that my 2nd gear synchro is bad, but its been bad for about 9-10 months. I'm looking into a b18 and would rather not put the money into a new/used tranny just to replac it a few months from now. How long do u think ihave left before it wont have any second gear left? That happens to be the strongest gear in my car.. im sure u all know this. and it happens about 90% of the time...

If it's happening that often, then it's probably close to toast and needs to be changed out soon.

Is it just second gear that grinds?

2nd gear and reverse occasionally.. but only like 25% of the time. and sometimes if its moving slightly already it grinds to reverse

That's because you're supposed to only put the car in reverse when you're at a complete stop. Also, try shifting into first or second before you go in reverse to prevent the grinding, trust me.

As far as the synchro goes then, it's getting bad if it's grinding 90% of the time.

Well, that's because the synchro is bad. Adding synchromesh is like putting gauze on a bullet wound.

Is it only in the high rpms or throught then entire powerband? If it does it no matter how fast you are going then its going to go soon. My bro had an ex tranny and 2nd gear was so bad it wouldn't go in at any speed. He had to do a 1-3 shift and that sucked .

That was also the second option.

OP, I would definitely trust Mista Bone on this one.
