Default Need Help!! Converting an OBD2b D16y8 to OBD1. Searched but need specifics on wiring and sensors

Hello All,

I Have a 2000 Civic Cx (OBD2b) and I'm swaping my D16y7 non-vtec to a D16y8 Vtec with a Jackson Racing Supercharger with 6 p.s.i boost. I am going to convert back to OBD1 for tuning purposes and running a chipped P28. I will be using my stock non vtec wire harness too.

This is what I need as far as I know.
1) OBD2b to OBD1 conversion harness (Need it!!)
2) wiring for Vtec selonoid and pressure switch (Got it!!)
3) Any D series Distributer (Mine is missing so I need one!! PM me offer's)
4) RC 440 injectors (Got it!!)
5) 255 fuel pump (Got it!!)

What I know:
I have read that I need to do a two step IACV fix.

I don't know:
Will I need to change or convert my O2 sensors, or other sensors to OBD1 style.

Is there a difference between Vtec and Non Vtec Dizzy's and also OBD types?

I was told I need to wire a knock sensor in by one guy, but another said I don't need it???????????

Any additional info or thread links to my specific situation of converting OBD2b to OBD1 with boost application would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if this has been covered but the minime topics arn't to my specific needs.

Thanx in advance!!!

O2 sensors are the same, the P28 will only look for 1 O2 sensor so you're good to go with that.

OBD1 distributors have 2 plugs, and the OBD2's have 1 plug. The OBD2A plugs are different than OBD2B plugs. Not too sure about the vtec & non-vtec thing; used the dizzy for the specific engine every time I've worked on an engine swap. But you should just stick with the OBD2B dizzy since that's what the connector on your engine harness is.

No need for a knock sensor, the P28 doesn't look for it.

if you just run a harness the same obd as your motor and use a conversion harness for the p28 you wont have any issues. theres a couple write ups out there on rewiring the y7's 3 wire iac to 2 wire for the y8. the z6/z1/jdm d15b dists are the only 92-00 dists with a different bolt pattern. use a y5/y7/y8 dist and youll be fine.
