There are a few problems (tensioner, fuel clip, stalling, etc.) with the early production 1098's that have all pretty much been addressed in the later batches released. The 2008 production year doesn't seem to have any of the problems the 2007 year possessed, but with a price tag of an addt'l $1000 for the base 1098.
This is one reason I never buy new products when they first come out (electronics, cars, motorcycles, etc..). There are usually defects which are fixed later on in production.
