Default alternator problem????? please help

today while driving, my batt. warning light came on. Ok, so i stop the car, get out and check the belt around the alt., its good. I checked all the connections, and they are also good. Checked the #14 fuse and thats cool too. Alright, so i start the car again and the light still comes on, i say **** it and start driving. By this point, i'm starting to get real pissed so i punch the throttle and tear *** down the road, the light goes off. I start slowing down, and now the light came back on.

Whats the deal? Is this my alternator acting funny or should i check somewhere else for this problem? Sometimes it will stay off at idle for about 5min, then it will come back on.

Any help is appreciated

mike

damn that's the exact sam,e propblem that i'm haveing to deal with on my 91 civic si. It's been in my garage for the past 6 months. I thought it was the altenator si i got a new one, also had my battery fuller charged upat sears. Installed the altenator and everything was fine. 3months later i go and start my car agian and it wouldn't start. I forgot to disconnect my battery... so took it to Sear for a free recharge... got back it started right up but after driving about 30 miles my battery light came on... it flashes everytime the car is gear(i know seems weird) also when i use the turn signals. Right now my hypothesis is that the tension on the belt for the altenator isn't enough, so i think the altenator isn't sending all the power that it's reciving form the battery back to the battery. It sounds logic...but i also need help... if i can't find out what's up i'll get take it to honda.

I have a friend who's Accord did some wierd stuff, she'd be in the middle of the rpm band and the alt. light would come on and then back off at the top of the rpm's. She replaced the alternator and all was well.

I was having some electrical problems before I tore my engine down for a CRVTEC. I just bought a new alternator from O'Reilly's to put in there so when the motor goes in this week, hopefully all will be cured. It was about $129 for the alternator and $48 for the core charge.

damn that's funny because when the crank pully broke on my 93 accord i replaced it with the one from my onld motor,...but the problem was that the tension of the belt wasn't enough so after a weak the battlery would be low and when i used the my head light and the turn signal my battery light would come on and my RPM meter needle would be bounceing from 2k - 6k back and for until i stop using the head lights oe the turn signals... I took it to honda and they couldn't figure it out for like 6 hours..... the onl thing the tech quys said was that they just adjusted the pully and charged up my battery.... and no more problems ever since then. (sorry it was so long)

but that's why i might just en d up taking to honda agian
