How soon should I get them fixed?

Technically, some people will say replace the whole axle, since the problem will happen again, and some will say, replace the boot, since it just happened.

I drove on mine for over a year, after it ripped, and nothing happned; it did, however, start to make a humming noise on the road (recently), so I figure it was about time to replace them. Passenger side (drove for a year), then driver side went out 6 months later.

I would probably replace them, and I would get a fresh core axles (non reman axle, altough some may have good experience).

Wait why would they bust so quick after replacing them, when it took 11 years to bust the first ones when it came stock?

 

I tore the passenger side in my '92 hatch this summer. I drive my car in a fair bit of autocross and opted to replace the axle right away, instead of risking a broken axle during a competition. In most cases, the joint will last a fairly long time with the torn boot, but once its torn, dirt can get into the joint and cause problems.

The cost to replace an axle can vary, but it takes a mechanic MINUTES to install.

for you it prolly be easier just to get a new axle..it put in a new cv boot requires special pliers that are designed for cv clamps..not mention cv boots are a dirty job

 

depending on how long it has been torn, do u see a lot of rain in too-stoned az?
if you know how long it's been torn and if it has not been raining, replace the boot. It is very easy to replace, and yes it's messy, so wear some throw away gloves.. As for the "special pliers", buy some from a parts store or harbor freight.

Ive had torn boots in other cars, i normally drive it until it starts to click when i make turns.

 

Can't u just clean it and grease it back up and replace boots? The passenger side one on my del Sol VTEC clicks on right turns, but I greased it so it could last a little longer since I couldn't fix it myself yet ( med condition couldnt do much physical activity for some weeks), and clicking stopped for a few days. I'm planning on just changing boots n cleaning and adding new grease.

 

just buy some reman axles from a parts store ie. checker and have a shop put them in. 2 hours for both sides with lifetime warranty axles.
if you do a boot kit, the labor will equal new axles and installation
