Default More negative national press for SS bikes.

http://money.cnn.com/2007/09/1...91111

"Supersport motorcycles are indeed nimble and quick, but they also can be deadly," said Anne McCartt, IIHS's senior vice president for research. "These bikes made up less than 10 percent of registered motorcycles in 2005 but accounted for over 25 percent of rider deaths. Their insurance losses were elevated, too."

Hmmm... lets see.

Do I want to go out with freeze dried skin and a failing heart while drooling saliva from my mouth in an attempt to tell my family to pull the plug,

or do I want to go out in a huge fire ball, in a flash of light nay a blink of an eye...

what's more disturbing is the link below the story about honda and dirtbikes.

it just goes to show how the squares in the cages have no ******* clue.

Whoopdy doo. I wonder which bikes made up the other 75% of rider deaths?
You also have to look at demographics and use. Think about who's riding which bikes and why.

Yeah that article was pure garbage. I wish I had seen that earlier so I could've written a letter to the editor about that ignorant tripe.

That idea that motorcycles should be limited is bullshit. Alcohol is involved in far more fatal accidents than supersport motorcycles, why don't we limit the alcohol content of any drink to 2%? Then it would take a lot longer for anyone to get drunk and there'd be less accidents right?

Or how about we limit the amount of fat in any food? After all heart disease kills orders of magnitude more people than motorcycles do. No, how 'bout we let people be responsible for their own lives. If they want to ride a Gixxer through the wall of a Taco Bell, that's up to them. If you wanna eat Oreos and bacon for every meal, more power to ya. If you want to chug grain alcohol, great, hope you have good health insurance.

I swear nanny-state-ism is one of the biggest threats to freedom in this country...

Exactly. The majority of sport bike riders are teenagers/early 20 yr olds who bought the newest 600 or 1000 because it makes them look cool so they can impress the ladies. They still have the "I'm invincible" quality about them.

You cant lump us all into that category im 20 years old with a busa. I didnt buy it cuz it is ubber fast or cuz i wanted all the ladies or cuz it looks good... I have a girlfriend im extremely happy with and a one year old son. I bought the busa because it was the most comfortable with my back and neck problems from being rear ended in my car... I buy whats comfortable for me because of my love for riding. I put 2200 miles on it the first month i had it.

I didn't, as oodie pointed out. Hell, I'm 20, and I see myself (more or less a responsible rider) as the minority of all my peers. I'm the only one I know who always wears his gear. Hell, I'm one of the few people I know who actually have a license

From article

"Drivers of high-performance racing motorcycles are being killed nearly four times as often as people who drive standard models, a new insurance study shows."

Guess I can rest easy since I drive a standard. I'm 4 times as likely to survive than others

The ******* article about Honda and dirt bikes is ******* retarded.

Blame it on the bikes and company, but not the parents for letting them ride with no helmets or not properly taking care of there kids. I rode motocross since I was only an ankle biter. Accidents are a part or riding. That should be assumed when you purchase one of those bikes and studies like this should be ******* pointless. The parents knew what they were letting little johnny do when the let him ride off. They very well knew, he could go off riding fast.

******* stupid people.

I say remove the warning labels from everything and let Darwin take care of this ******* problem.

Article can say what they want to say. They are not going to stop any of us from riding. We enter the world of sportbikes, knowing the heavy consequences we're getting ourselves into. If our parents/girlfriend/friends advices are not going to change our mind. What makes you think the media will change it.

"Motorcycle crashes are a substantial public health problem for children and teens."

this is quite disturbing especially combined with new studies that say car crashes, airplane crashes, falling off of balconies, getting hit in the head with beams of metal, and getting jabbed in the eye with a butterfly knife is also a health problem for children and teens. omg, i just heard on cnn.com that motorcycle crashes are not only "a substantial public health problem for children and teens", but adults and elderly too. WTF is wrong with these people? of course crashes are a health risk, thats why we avoid them and wear helmets and other protective gear. i just thank god for life wasters like paris hilton, brittany spears, and lindsay lohan who continually take all the attention of the ppl who are too into other ppl's lives so they dont pay attention to stupid articles like this.

Exactly. The funny part is, 150k other people died every day one of those sport bikers died. So? People die.
