Default Thinking about an EP...

These cars seem to be holding value pretty good. Cheapest 03 I've found with about 50k miles is for $12k.
Anyhow, friends say to pay a little more for an 04-05 as they're faster? I haven't found any differences. Appears mostly cosmetic exterior, and new five lug with 16 wheels/tires. Am I missing anything else?

Also, how's the gas mileage? Heard it's not too good as in 5th gear at 70-80 you're at 4k rpm???
Thanks.

i am trying to sell mine, its a 03 with many mods just over 45k and im only asking 11.500. If you do get one, i think you will like it. the lack of power isnt a big deal, because you can alway fix that.

yeah, I would look for an 04-05, but its no biggie if you get an earleir one. the only diffrences are wheels, side skirts, tailights, and a slightly diffrent looking front end. i just think they loko beter. and they also arent as susceptible to the steering rack and cam wear problems. I drive 70 anytime im on the highway, and pull about 3500 rpm. its actually great as there is no need to downshift to pass anyone. I keep all gas records and consistently get aroun 32 mpg combined. hope all that helps!

Unless the owner was a lucky one and was pretty much begged by the dealer to take one and got the si for 15k new they are not holding their value to well.

I sold mine about two months ago for 10k with 60k miles. It was in PERFECT condition also.

If you drive around town a lot then the mpg is not bad. I never did highway driving and got around 28mpg. When I took long distant trips with the car I would get 30mpg.

Keep searching, you'll find some that are cheaper than that...also there is no difference in power amongh 02-03 and 04-05...Infact lots of peeps with the 04-05 only like the side skirts and the 5 lug but are changing the tail lights to the 02-03 version while lots of the 02-03 peeps are changing the 4 lug to 5 lug...

I have an 02 Ep3, I love mine, mpg is great although a 6th gear would be nice since when you get to 70-80mph, like you said it sits at about 4k. Ep's are a very fun car to drive, lemme know what you decided to go with.

Ep is a great little daily driver. Its fun, and alot roomier than my Ek.

Lots of low end torque for gettin around town. Driving on the freeway at 4k kind of puts a strain on the milage. but overall, i love that car and plan to keep it for ever.

soon it will be my track car.
