17x8 with 235/40/17 on a DC/DB..anyone done it?
I searched and found a few topics....
not concerned with gearing or ride height, as both will not be a problem..nor unsprung weight.
I am planning on running 17x8 on my 00 DB8 for HPDE and future Time Attacks.
Current thoughts are 17x8 +42mm with a 235/40/17.....
I am curious if anyone has done this, or similar? I run a large front brake setup and need 17" to clear the rotors.
Also my current set up (17x7.5 +45mm and 205/40/17 NITTO NT-01s). Since I don't think I will be making more power anytime soon, I feel it necessary to increase my cornering speeds and shorten the braking distance by increasing contact patch
Any help is appreciated
Thank you!

I can't imagine that fitting well, if at all, in the fenderwell of an Integra. That's a big tire and a very mild offset on the wheel, I'd bet there would be all kinds of rubbing on the inside.
Edit: What tire are you currently using? The compound will play a much bigger role in how well you stick than the size. For example, an RA1 in 205 width will stick better than an Azenis in 235 width.

K, well... how much power are you making? 225s will fit with some fender rolling, but I really don't think that wheel will work.

Currently 165whp....... but I am hoping to eventually go back to my SC set up which is 285 whp
I don't want to run 225's .... 235's are a touch smaller in overall diameter
I have seen some EK/EM1 style race cars running this size, I figure it can be done.
I just wanted to talk to someone who had done it, and get their opinion on the set up.
I already run 17x7.5 +45mm........ I have room for the wheel

You have room for the wheel with a 205-series tire. And that is one advantage to the EK/EM cars, they have bigger fenderwells apparently. I don't know of any of the HCers other than Andrie Hartanto running anything wider than a 225. I could be wrong on the fitment, but... I don't think so, with what I've seen. To give you an idea, on my 15x8 +35 wheels, I am VERY close to the wheel rubbing on the rear trailing arm and the upper control arm had to be modified to not rub. Regardless of anything else, that's Integra rear suspension. At the very least I think you'd need spacers, but then you start running into the tire rubbing on the inside of the fender.
Also, if you're not worried about gearing, why are you worried about tire diameter? More importantly, with 165whp, sounds like you could sell those big brakes and run a 15" wheel. You'll shed tons of unsprung weight to boot.
If you're still dead-set on that, PM Andrie.

Thanks for the insight on the rear fitment.....
as for the 225vs235....I prefer the shorter sidewall, but I might start exploring the idea of running 225.
And as I said earlier I hope to reinstall the Vortech supercharger kit I have, so I will need the bigger brakes. I have run the car with an 11" Fastbrake setup before and it wasn't enough for my tastes, but then I didn't have r compounds back then either.
I do appreciate the help though...that you very much sir.

I like how the car feels with a shorter sidewall...... I have run 15, 16, anf 17... I like the feel of the short sidewall.....steering response seems to sharper

you should be able to run 17x8 wheels w/ 235/40/17 tires on your db8 as long as you roll your fenders and run an offset at least between +45 and +50. it's also possible with 17x7.5s with +48 offset. here's a pic of 17x8 wheels w/ 235/40/17 tires on a dc2.

this is without increasing negative camber using a rear camber kit.

What offset is that?....I currently run -2.5 camber in the rear with 7.5" wide and a +45mm offset on 205 wide tire

I would squeeze 235/40R17 Toyo's on your current 7.5" wheels. Worst case you need a little spacer or some rolling of the fender. Andrie was on 7.5" wheels when he won H1 honda challenge in his Civic.
They'll cost more but wear longer and give better grip.
