Whats wrong w/my JDM D15B Vtec?
Hey i was wondering if there is any D15B VTEC owners out there and wanted to know what kind of numbers(HPorWHP) you guys are getting! Its just that sometimes my **** seems slow as hell(i know its a D series blah blah blah) but ive seen EX civic run better! Is it because of my LX tranny or something. Maybe timing or maybe that my ecu is running freakin B16 maps on a Eprom chip? which is how i bought the chipped ecu. What gives any pointers or opinions are APP.
sorry for this post

Seriously. Your car has 106 hp and an ex has 127 hp. How can you say that "ive seen EX civic run better" when your car is heavier and has less power? Not to mention the fact that you are running a base map for a car with 2 cams. Of course your LX trans isn't exactly that short either.
Don't mean to sound like an ***, but just pointing out the obvious.

It doesn't always happen that the ecu hurts the motor THAT much. As I have explained a number of times in a few threads the last couple of days, I was given a p72 (GSR) ecu with my B16 (p30) swap and my car ran fine (threw some codes, but ran fine). But, seeing as yours is an SOHC, a DOHC ecu would probably hinder performance for a few reasons. And the tranny sucks too.

Well yeah, it all depends on how different the ecus are. With his case, they are pretty drastic.

Yeah, but the power difference over the Z6 is negligible, and because the flow patterns are completely different, you really can't compare it to the Y8.
The reason it's slow is b/c of that **** B7 trans you have on it. They're long as hell, so yeah, when you're talking 5hp difference (at the crank) compared to a pretty noticeably shorter trans, yeah, an EX is gonna be faster.
Get a Z6 or Y8 transmission, guarantee it'll make it feel right.
EDIT:
PS: The JDM D15B doesn't have any "more potential" in terms of power than the Z6 does. The difference is 5hp and a slightly more aggressive cam, we're not talking big numbers here.
JDM D15B
JDM D16ZC (SOHC VTEC)
D16Z6
Basically the same damn motor, 3 different codes.
Yeah, this is different, that's different, but in reality, the output and setup is pretty damn near the same. It's comparing too similar things to claim any major differences.
Speaking of JDM:
I was watching this street race break-up that happened by my friend's house in CT, it's on streetfire I think - anyways - the cops were towing god knows how many cars b/c they were popping the hoods looking for stolen engines and since a lotta guys had JDM VINless engines in there, their cars got towed as the engine was marked as "stolen" as no VIN are findable.
Ha.

Well I guess I'm going to chabge the chip in that p28.
I already have a ex/si tranny sitting in the garage waiting for install, its just I had that itch in the back of my neck about this **** being slow. Also not to mention I have I/H/E/about to install my Skunk2 mani.So I guess my car should run decent

The stroke is better? What does that mean, longer? It's 5.5mm shorter than the Z6, that's .
Even then, it's comp ratio is a bit higher so if anything it's disadvantaged as the only thing you'd do on stock internals in hopes of hitting some high #'s is boosting. If you go all motor you're gonna change out the pistons/con rods to up your compression - so the OEM stroke matters none.
So yeah, the JDM D15B doesn't have any advantages in terms of "potential" - it's stroke is 94% that of the Z6.
Please, don't kid yourself by thinking the JDM D15B is a "much better platform to build on" because it has "much more potential" than a SOHC VTEC ZC or a Z6.
EDIT:
@ OP:
I missed the ending of your post - that probably has something to do with it too. Run a P28 or since you already have yours chipped just burn a P28 or D15B basemap onto it. I'd still put my $ on an EX transmission.
An EX is gonna out-do you even with the right ECU b/c of the trans length, like I said before, the difference is 3-5hp at the CRANK. The fact that it's "JDM" isn't exactly gonna make up the difference.

Just kidding well I have both the other chip and the SI tranny, just need to install it.Hey also I know this has nothing to do with this but does anyone know how one is suppose to adjust that screw on the TB? I mean is it suppose to be a certain way? I mean I just got a CAI intake and I hear other peoples cars make noise with CAI even my saturn does
but mine doesn't ! Some one told me I was suppose to open that screw up. Is this true wouldn't that raise my idle? where is my idle suppose to be at anyways? Thanx for any input and sorry for the NOOBNESS

I have this motor in my CRX. I HAVE to say that I rocked the DX tranny for a while with my motor because I couldn't get a hold of an Si tranny. The DX tranny SUCKED compared to the Si. I mean it was enough to spin tires in first fresh off of idle but NOT like the Si tranny. My car ripped with that tranny in it. I'm just a little confused. I'm in the process of buying my 92 Civic 4-door DX and it's a five speed. The dude I'm buying it from doesn't know **** about cars other than the fact that the head gasket is starting to go because that's what someone told him. Are all 92-00 Civic 5 speeds hydraulic? If so, I might have an Si tranny for sale for 88-91 Civics...lol I'll end up having to start all over again with the DX tranny thing...Anyway, I run an unmolested P28 ECU on my car and I have NO check engine light and NO reliability issues whatsoever. The only problem I have is a high idle when cold and a low idle when warm. Other than that nothing but good things to say about this motor.

Please don't touch that screw. I don't know who told you that, but they are stupid. Also, who said anything about intake noise. Yeah, it will make a little more noise with an intake, but it shouldn't be much.
