God i hate honda y r they so different..any1 done rod/main bearings on a 02 civic
ok god [Censored] y the hell do they have colors instead of numbers ok heres tha deal replacing the rod and main bearings... they tell me in order to order the main/rod bearings there are different colors to go by i got the colors for the rod bearings and i go in and they tell me that the mainbearings are color cornnated too so they tell me i need a number on tha tranny or block (forget which 1) that i need so theycan order the right one so they give me a lil print off of a sketch and its at the top of tha motor which i didnt pull the motor and tranny off i cant read it and they said theres another number i can get with out pullin the tranny but i cant remember what he said and just wanting to know what the hell it is since there closed now and wanting an answer now lol but any help want to say its somewhere on the back of the block or sumwhere shiittttttt!!!!!!!!!

it makes perfect sense that a precise machine would need correct sized bearings. If this is news to you, you probably shouldnt be ordering them to begin with and let someone with experience rebuild your block for you. The information you need is stamped in the block, why the hell would rod and crank bearing indications be stamped on the transmission?
so ur tellin me u dont know the answer .. and i said there are by the tranny by the drive plate end ??? that i would have to take off tha tranny to see the numbers so u telling me ppl from honda are wrong and these papers printed from there damn computers are wrong huh???? god ur a ****** idiot yea i know i need the right bearings and that they have different colors y cant the just do like every1 else and give u a standard size y the hell they put 2 different size bearings in the same motor 3of 1 size and the other a different size u tell me motherfucka???????? u dont know what ur talkin bout.
there's a 5 letter code stamped on one of the ribs of the bell housing. If you have the fly wheel off and you cant see them, spray brake cleaner in there until you find them.
#5 is nearest to the outside of the housing.
Next to each journal on the crank counterweights is a number. Each number-letter code corresponds to a bearing color on the table on page 7-7 of the manual. The rod has a number on it, the counterweight on the other side of the crank journal has a letter... you match those up in combination, and pick the bearings based on the table on page 7-9 of the manual. If you have to polish the crank, align hone the block or anything else which alters the clearances, you'll need to take measurements with a micrometer and determine the thickness of bearing you need, then call honda for the colors. I dont see the difficulty in this.
If you dont have the manual, buy it. If you dont understand why there are different bearing thicknesses... its time to learn about machining tolerances. The clearance on the bearings is .0007-.0015" its not easy to hit that with a tool thats the length of the engine block when they bore the journals out... so they use the bearings to get it dead on. Its not a small block chevy with a couple thousanths of fudge factor, these things are so precise, they dont make plastigage thats sensitive enough to measure that clearance (it only goes as low as .001"). If you cant figure it out, have a shop build the motor.
And if you could use proper english and punctuation... that would be a huge help. Some of us are educated enough that we can no longer read jibberish.
