cams will not turn on new built motor????
i'm having a problem getting my bc spec 3 cams to turn on my b16 head. i'm running a c5 block with ctr pistons. the block has just been rebuilt and the head is brand new with titanium valves, titanium retainers, 4 angle valve job. the assembly is together with no spark plugs and the cam plates have been torqued to specs and am not able to turn with my hand not even a little bit. has anyone came across this same problem before?
I dont think you will be able to turn the cam by hand. You should also have the pistons and cams at TDC then install the timing belt. You shouldnt just try spinning a cam by itself. Put the timing belt and everything on then the crank pulley. Once you have the timing and everything good take a wrench and try to spin the crank pulley. You should be able to get some rotation then with a little muscle.
Exact same problem happened to me before using the Buddy Club spec4 head package. The cams were defective! I was told they were the first set of spec4's that were out of spec, but they did say they had problems with some of the spec 3's. I reinstalled a new set of spec4's and everything was like normal.
Initially, Buddy club insisted the cam journals were warped/out of line, i insisted they werent and i was correct.

yes everything has been done correctly. lube was used and the cams have already been ran before. i had taken them out of my stock c5 head and they are in perfect condition. everything is set at top dead center so another words when the cams are to be turned only number 1 and number 4 are the ones that move the valves with no regard to the pistons since it is at topdead center with number 2 and number 3 pistons are up so no valves are pushing against a piston. i have been told that these cams may be too big to turn anyhow. does this sound like a familiar problem?

Then my experience wont apply to you. I assumed they were brand new cams.
