i think my lamin-x is f*ed up
i just got my lamin-x yellow headlight film for 07 si sedan. when installing it, it seemed not to line up as good as i expected. anyone have this mod done? similar story? i ended up pulling off the side that was done and rolling it back up on its protective backing, emailed lamin-x to see if they'll send me a new pair. i followed proper installation instructions, just dont know!? any help??
I have not bought the headlights cover only the fog light yellow covers. It said not to have the fog lights on for too long but I did and the cover started to get burnt slowly. Next thing I know the yellow was turning brown, LOL. I am going to try the yellow spray can next.
And I quote from the install directions from lamin-x

-Spray bottle filled with 24 oz. of clean water.
Note: A few drops of methyl hydrate <U>only</U> may be used in the solution to assist in evaporation</TD></TR></TABLE>
Im not expert but I know soap would leave streaks between the Lamin-x and the light genious.

I've done both, I use invisible glass first, for the headlights I used Plexus plastic cleaner first. Looks like mine turned out just fine

Then you've never done window tint before, because it's a industry trade to use water with a few drops of dish wash detergent. I have my own vinyl plotter and cut my own stickers, overlay and clear bra. Never left any streaks, you just lack experience and knowledge.
no where in the directions does it say use soapy water. i followed the directions by using a light mist of CLEAN WATER on the lens only and a little on the non-adhesive side while squegeeing. i had to buy a new piece from lamin-x but they hooked it up. this mod isnt for beginners. it is a little difficult to do yourself.

Regardless of what the company says, he is right. Baby soap, to be specific.
As far as fitment issues go, any experience I've ever had with the pre-cut film kits has sucked. It's best to just buy a sheet of it and cut to fit, shrink it on with a heat gun, and push it out.
Some of my work, using that method:

Glad there are some members with tech knowledge not just high schoolers giving advice.
I've used baby soap as well but switched to filtered water with a drop or two of Palmolive.

If you use the wrong soap it will leave streaks when it drys.

Put your hands in tap water and rub your fingers together.
Now put soap on your hands, run under tap water and rub again.
See the difference? The idea is, adding soap to the water will allow you to move the film over the window (or headlight in this case) with ease before the glue sticks and you can't move it anymore.
Now take your hands and go rub yourself

Good point. Plus I am too lazy to take the fog light out to have it flat instead on spraying it on the car.
