Default royal purple

so i bought royal purple synthtic oil and had an oil change about 500miles ago....the oil is purple and i just went to check it...its completley brown....

now i have one only explanation for this...i took it to these grease monkey mechanics for an oil change and i think they kept the royal purple for themselves cause they kept looking at the bottle like this would work good in my car....i think i now have valvoline synthetic not royal purple and im pissed

to bring justice to my explanation and claim can anyone with expiernce tell me if the royal purple oil should stay purple after 500 miles of use?

it should stay purple... though my thoughts exactly bout taking it to a shop and them swapping oil on you. better off doing your own oil changes when it comes down to expensive *** motor oil

out of curiosity.. how many miles you have on that prelude/motor.. i wouldn't bother running synthetic over 130k miles.

Why wouldnt you run synthetic over 130K?

I easily have over 160K and I have no issues what so ever.

like i said thats normal. its an additive they put in to make it purple. its not gunna stay purple. chances are you didnt get hosed. My recommendation change your oil yourself i think warrenty changes are the only ones justified to take it in to a shop.

they were probably saying heres a guy buying expensive stuff for his car but he cant even change his own oil. take that no offence im not directing that toward you or your ability to change oil. thats just prolly what they were saying. been there (with the mechanics) when they've made comments like that. im almost positive it only takes like startup and maybe a few miles for the purple to wear out. im about to change my oil soon so ill try and see how long it takes if i remember.

I doubt thats what the mechanics were saying.. some of us dont want to take the time to change our own oil, because its a pain and its messy, some of us can afford to pay someone 20 bucks to do it for us...... I can change my own oil, but do I do it? hell no.

did u put into consideration how HOT your motor runs? i mean c'mon.. go get a pan u dont care about + put on a gas mask and cook it to see the color change. its not gonna stay the same under diff temp and diff condition... : / however, if they did steal your oil... i wouldnt take any legal action, i'd just smear poo everywhere.

I know that they always advertise some LS1 engine or something making 9 HP out of the oil but we would get lucky if we saw maybe 1 HP gain. That's the thing about domestics, you can change even the intake to a K&N intake and make like 30HP on a mustang or even just oil, like Royal Purple advertises. But I use Royal Purple in my engine too and I have like 145k miles on my car. I just want to use the best in my car. Especially the way I push it...

Very true....the high temperatures from the heat of combustion changes the colour of the oil.

I would be more concerned about that than your oil color.

i juz checked mine i had a oil changed last friday, its like in between purple and brown. did u notice any difference when u had your oil changed? royal purple is pretty good oil, if its your first time you'll feel the difference. When u had oil change did u watch them to the oil change or juz watch tv inside?always watch your car when someone is working on it. dont trust those 10min oil change.

Do it yourself if u can, a little time to spend time with your car and gain knowledge from it.

I have run RP 20w50 in my H22A for about 2.5 years now. I can say it has not let me down yet. I do change it about 2500 miles. When it starts to get broken down, it seems to get used faster. During the course of 2500-3000 miles, I may even have to add a qt. or 2. After 2 though, I just go ahead and change it. even if miles are low. I have been seeing this Nippon brand called ENEOS. Looks like it might be good too.

i dont get much longevity of the color in my oil but when i had royal purple tranny fluid that stayed purple for almost a year till i swapped it out. no carbona junk to dirty it in there.
