16's and dumped

once again want some insight
my tires are goin worn, and i got some 17's racing harts c 4.Not my choice of wheels but got it for a good deal from a buddy. was thinking about gettin 18's for a clean look with a little drop (looks SEXY). at the same time 18's tires are sometimes worth more than the rims. So i'm thinkin about goin down a little and getting better gas milage and maybe more meatier tires for the distance.
wanted to know if any one has a clean dumped (super low) on 16's
any good any bad thoughts
17's its ok but doesn't feel like i get everything out of them lil more weight than necessary
