if your talking about putting a Y8 head on your Z6 block thats what I am doing right now, I got it for free and my old one needed valve seals so it was win win. it raised my compression too so I think if you have a spare one put it on! There were 2 differences between the heads that i found, the vtec solinoid bolts up different and the intake side of the head is a bit different too. but you will be fine as long as you have the vtec solinoid
sorry was writing in a hurry and didn't have a chance to read my original post. I have a Y8 head complete(needs new valves and seals) is it worth it just to put the Y8 cam in my A6 motor in my car right now. The specs of the two cams are above. I am not sure how much of a difference the longer duration of the Y8 cam would make. Plus i need some practice changing sohc cams out(i've done DOHC VTEC cam installs just not sohc). Thats what it should have said sorry. I am going to build the Y8 head i have right now with a crower or zex cam until then.
i heard that on the y8 head you can bolt up our distributor without having to modify the legs.... it sux b/c i have a z6 and i had to cut the legs of my distributor up to make it bolt up....
just so you know the Y8 and Z6 cams are indexed differently. The stock Y8 cam has a little lift/duration on the low cam, but the high cam specs are the same.
BTW I figure out the cam specs first, just didn't think Honda would re-index the cam keyway.
