Worried about JDM B18C valves....
I've just recently begun my adventures in tuning. My buddy has been doing it for years now and worked with Craig Moates of Honda Tuning. We dropped the new motor in and tuned it afterwards. All has been well so far, and the car runs GREAT. However, he did set it to cut off at 8700 rpms (9000 on the tach). I know the stock limiter is set at 8400 (8700 tach). Should I have him set it back to stock, or am I worrying over nothing? 300 rpms isn't much, but for the amount of time and money I've spent, a bent valve (or worse) would destroy me. Will it hold up in these conditions?? Thanks for the input!!
Why bump? ^ YK gave you the suggestion we'd all probably give you. When the money is a little better and you're not so worried about a valve, put it to stock, having it where it's at should be a security blanket for you...
The stock USDM fuel cut is something like 8600, indicated redline was to be 8400.
I've run a Mugen ECU in a relative stock motor with a stock tach indicated fuel cut of around 9100 w/o any issues, though I wasn't in the habbit of riding the limiter or bouncing it very often.
Short version ... you're fine.
