At first, the relay would do nothing when I had the key in the on position, so I took it apart and de-soldered all the joints, then re-soldered them back. That didnt work so I figured there might be a short inside the relay itself that I could not fix, so I bought a different one. Now it just continuously shorts out when I have the key in the on position like it did with the old relay.
The car used to run fine (except for a water leak). Recently I have pulled up all the tar from under the carpet using the dry ice method. What might be the culprit to my constant relay short problem?

x2,
I also had a loose connector on my igniter and my car would just cut off at random times during acceleration.
Trouble shooting is fun but stressful at times...lol...

k, so have you definitely pinned the problem down to a short? cuz if you have, the tstat grounds won't be your problem- corrosion build up will cause high resistance, or an open- not a short...
