Default torquing down crank pulley

Whats the best way to keep the crank from turing while torquing the crank bolts down?Leave the car in gear?

what are you talking about? pulley bolt or are you talking about the crank bolts inside the crankcase?

crank pulley holding tool

I bought mine from TheToolWarehouse.net and it is made by Schley Products.

you can check out my write-up on how to replace a timing belt and water pump, I show how I did it as well as list the tools I used.
