Default all motor car goin turbo, which turbo ?

i just got done drivin ls vtec, i was runnin it pretty hard and when i slowd down i heard a rod knock i was like ****......but being the optomist i am im looking on the bright side...gonna rebuild for boost this time. the car made 192/128 NA, i guess thats what happens when u rev to 10000k every day for 2000 miles!

the following parts i already have from the previous build:
supertech valve springs
skunk2 retainers
ferrea valves
bc4 cams

gotta rebuild the bottom end ( i had eagles and 11.5:1 jes)
so i got a few question
should i go 10:1 or 9.5:1?
gonna get a turbo elements manifold (sellin my rmf)
what turbo should i go with? (im tryin to do this on stock sleeves ,81.5, maybe lookin for 350-400)
should i keep the bc4s ? iknow i should get turbo cams but these cams are pretty beeffy up top

stop reving so high and your motors will last longer. 9k or a lil higher in high enough.

10:1 or 9.5 is fine. i'm doing 10:1 on stock sleeves shooting for 400.

gt30r is a good choice if you got the bread or a sc61 or something a lil smaller.

For 350-400whp an SC61 is overkill

I agree w/ the GT30r series, but its a little spendy and not really "necessary" for that power range. You could get away with a 57 trim if you're on a budget. It would spool just fine and give you the power you're looking for...it all depends on your budget and needs

how much power do u wanna make? u could work with ur high CR as long as u have a good tuner..
dont mess with the internals for now.. slap ur turbo on.. enjoy it til something breaks..
and ya GT30 series is what im gonna use as well and i have a CTR with high compression as well

why would you change a skunk2 intake manifold for an aebs? they are almost identical, if anything a victor x would be a better upgrade.

400 wont be a problem on stock sleeves.

have you diagnosed the knocking issue you have had?

did you get the supertech valve springs with the lower seat pressure for the N/A setup. depending how high you want to rev the stiffer spring rate might be better.

gt3076r ftw.

no i got the stiff supertech springs....i rev this motor to 9500 now. i just hate having to rev to the moon to go anywhere...im really excited about the new build im thinking

holset hx35 or gt30r
turbo elements standard manifold
38mm tial
greddy type s
2.5 boost pipe(could i benefit from 3 inch?)
3 inch downpipe (or would 4 inch be better, im gonna run open downpipe)
stealthmode oil lines
10:1 je's
my old eagles if theyre salvagable
balnced rotating assembly
buddy club spec 4s(anyones see a prob with these for boost?)

like i said trying to make 400 on stock sleeves about how much boost will i need for this?

ur pushing the limit @400 on stock sleeves. u can make it no doubt but it sucks to feel how powerful and fun it is to drive only to have to rebuild it all within a few hundred miles

for your goals, i would have to agree w/ Mike. The GT3076r is a great turbo, but only if your budget allows

the 60-1 as it sits is a pretty outdated turbo; however, there is an updated version of it available. It is the STC Silver Surfer.

u can make more than 400, but how long will it last?
somepeople have high boost high hp cars and thier cars last a couple years cuz they drive like grandmas..
i know i beat the crap outta my car so in my case 400whp on stock sleeves wont last ME too long.. i put about 4000km on my car every month.. and in rush hour traffic if i see an opening i rip it to 200km/h just to keep me awake..
but hey everyone is different
go for it.. see how long it lasts..
