Default Tail light problem

I have a 98 Civic EX coupe with the 99-00 SI tails. My problems only presist on the left side. I press the brake, and the tail light dim, release the brake the tail light goes bright. As I press the brake on the gauge cluster the left blinker lights up, but only on the cluster. And if I were to engage the blinker and press the brake the blinker turns off. What can I do to fix this? As far as I know its stock wiring.

sounds like a bad ground, you should have a black wire that connects to one of the bolts and you have to have that on bare metal. double check on that, sounds like a simple fix.
