Default tranny identification

how can you tell if a tranny is a gsr tranny pls help thanks <U></U>

If the VIN plate is on the transmission (96 and newer), look for DC2 or DB8 in the sequence.

RPM vs. speed.

In fifth gear:
2000 RPM ~40MPH
3000 RPM ~60MPH
4000 RPM ~80MPH

If the transmission is out of the car, you can try to count the ratio.

on the highway 5th gear at 80mph ur rpms should be at 4000 thats a gsr and a LS would be 80 at 3500 and B16 is 80 at 4500 hope that helps
