Default i have a couple questions about my setup. CTR pistons in LS block

i picked up a bone stock LS with 80k miles on it for 120$, and i decided to rebuild it..

here is what i chose.

the block:

-usdm b18b1 block (pressure tested, hot tanked)
-std bore 81mm CTR pistons and wrist pins
-stock LS rods
-micro-polished crank
-ACL bearings
-oem rings
(im debating arp vs. new OEM rod bolts?)
(should i knife edge the crank?)

the head:

-stock LS head, with stock internals
-it has been resurfaced/hot tanked/pressure tested
-arp headstuds

I was wondering since the dome on the CTR pistons, is pretty decent compared to the LS dome, but if i was to use a OEM 3-layer headgasket, would i have any problems with piston-head clearance? i know the safest clearance is around 35-40 thousands, but since im using stock LS rods, and crank the i figured the piston-deck height should be approx the same as the LS pistons. NOW if i knife edge the crank would this make a difference, in the pistons to deck height???

never built a motor before, im all new to it.. i've only done swaps and turbos...no internals.

i am scared to run aftermarket cams, b/c i dont want the valves to smack the pistons, and expletive everything up...i believe if i used a oem HG the CR would be close to 12.0-1?

i havent ever heard of anyone doing this before, so i figurd i'd ask HT and get some opinions/answers...

any help would be appreciated.!@!

do you already have the ctr pistons?if not i would go with p30',pr3 or jdm itr pistons instead and use a 2 layer head gasket.you will be ok to use after market cams then along with springs and retainers.

yes i already have the ctr pistons, the only reason i got them was because the compression was the highest for OEM pistons.

and if it has been coverd 5000 times, can you please send me a link to one of the threads, i searched and only one thread came up, but it was a GSR with ctr pistons.

thank you

No quite sure, but I think you would of been better going with JDM ITR pistons
and building the head. My son did this with his LS set-up and it tuned out very
nice. Can you return the CTR pistons?

have fun running race gas all the time
if you want a good street motor go with the p30s. pct(ctr) comp is way to high

ok you are answering all the wrong questions.

i want to know if im going to have enough clearance between the top of the piston, and the bottom of the head.?

if i have to ill run 2 HG's, or a thick cometic HG or something along those lines.

that will lower the CR, but it will be safe for my motor.

you should be fine with an oem headgasket
cay the motor piston to valve clearance before you put the motor together.
