cv axle
I've gone through several (approx 40K miles each) that I had installed by Tire Discounters (lifetime warranty that they don't offer any more - probably because they're losing their shirt) on my 90. For my 93's, I'm sticking with Honda (just discovered failed boot on left side of my 93 EX).
Hmmmmm. Ummm noise as in? Clicking? Screeching?
I had to replace both of my CV axles and they were fine. One is from autozone and one is from Kragen. I liked the kragen one better, but same quality.
Does your CV joints move freely when you installed it?

ya i installed it . i hear a knock noise when i let the clutch out. when i raise the vehicle i can feel play in the shaft itself it can be moved back and forth twards and away from transmission about quarter inch either way. i checked the other side and there is no play at all. i am sure that the lock washer went in correctly but it seems to have play.
Hmmm.. Did you put on the axle nut and tighten it? did the locking ring/washer go into the tranny all the way?
Did you get the axle for the manual transmission?
I'm guessing the axle ends is hitting the tranny block. Which side has the play? Driver or passenger?

drivers side. the intermediate shaft is fine but it has play where the axle connects to the intermediate shaft. the axle nut is on tight ( air ratchet)
Still not clear on what is loose, the inner CV Joint will have inward and outward motion, it moves in and out when the tire goes over bumps and humps but you should not be able to move it in and out while moving it with your hand.
I am thinking that if you inspect both inner joints and how they are mounted into the tranny, they should look equally inserted so that the c clip in the inner joint did in fact get properly inserted.
I do not know which side is the drive side but it should pop all the way out??? if it is not properly installed if it is the drive side, I would think it would make a grinding noise if not properly installed, the spline teeth grinding, not just a loud single noise.
It is possible that you got the wrong part number, I always match up the parts and make a few measurements, yes I have been burnt before.

the issue is with the c clip on the inner cv joint of the drivers side where it connects to the intermediate shaft. there seemd to be a little more play then the passenger side......maybe i need a washer for the axle nut? i really did not think that would be important.
UPDATE: actually now i am considering the sound is coming from a motor mount. the noise sounds like a loud knock
