should i get this lude
ok, i'm thinking of getting this 2001 prelude and i saw this one on cars.com, kid wants 10,000 g's i wanted to give him 9 but he said no, anyway my point is he has all these mods listed and i'm hesitant on getting it, so i asked why all the mods he said he wanted more power. ALso the 2001 lude came with stock 200hp, but from what i he told me the 200 hp is to the flywheel, wheel hp is rated @185, so those were the reasons he did all those mods. Anyway here's a list of the stuff he did to the car, i think with all the mods it actually hurts the cars value, what do ya'll think.
Selling Points: The car has many aftermarket parts. Here's the list , AEM V2 intake, AEM tru-power pulleys, AEM cam gears, Skunk2 pro series intake manifold, Skunk2 68mm throttle body, Hondata intake manifold gasket, MSD sport compact ignition, MSD distributor cap and rotor, MSD blaster SS coil, Vitek spark plug wires, Apex'i VAFC2, Apex'i N1 exhuast, DC sports header, Greddy timing and blanacer belt, Hyper ground system, Hyper voltage GT system, ACT XTSS clutch, ACT prolite flywheel, Tein basic damper coilovers, Toyo Proxes 4 tires on stock wheels, and tinted windows. I have the OEM intake manifold and throttle body to go with it. I changed the oil and oil filter every 5000 miles. I took very good care of this car. The car runs strong and perfect. No problems what so ever. Car being sold as is. My parents owned the car before me, when i bought the car from them it was completely stock. Everything done to this car that I couldnt do, was done by the same mechanic.
Condition: The interior of the car is in perfect condition. Their are blue/black seats in the front. I have the OEM seats to go with it. Their are white back gauges in the gauage cluster that light up blue or green at night along with a autometer C2 tach that also lights up blue. Their is a simulated carbonfiber trim kit along with a carbonfiber gauage bezel front. The VAFC2 is mounted under the cd player. The exterior is in good condition. The only reason why its not perfect is because there are a few small paint chips from stones, other then that i washed and waxed the car myself.(very shiney)I took very good care of keeping the interior and exterior clean as possible

Most of those mods by themselves are meaningless and the rest are "normal" mods. He has AEM cam gears? Whoopy! A grounding kit, yikes there's another 15 ponies to the wheels. The illness spark plug wires? Come on now we're just getting ricer. I mean if you had N20 those mods might be necessary to insure proper spartk but by and of themselves it's just something else to say to your friends that you've done to your car. Also your looking at around usually ~15% drivetrain loss thru a manual tranny so 185 to the wheels is way to much. Most stock will dyno at 170 and even that is on a good day. (Depending on the dyno) How many miles are on the car? There is a reason homie wanted more power because he probaly beat the **** out of it. Look further my friend a d00d on here just bought a 5th gen in pretty damn good condition for only 6K. Remember aftermarket mods lower a cars value and that 10K I would think is well over what kbb would value the car at.
it's an sh lude, it has 63,500 miles. But just to show how outrageaous ppl overprice their cars there's a guy whose selling a lude saame year as i'm looking at, his has 65k on it he wants 12,500 LOL, o and get this his has an R-title meaning it was stolen and was in an accident and also his has MODS same as the one i'm looking at. Anyway i agree there is no need for those mods, waste of money ANd yes the car is complete RICE, only reason i gave the car a second thought was the pricing, mileage, and year. Now only reason i am hesitanting is because of all the MODS.
Do some research if you plan to get into serious mods SH is not the way to go. The ATTS can't handle that much power before it craps out. I can't imagine how finding a lude should be so hard. What's your zip code?
tell him his mods don't add any real power.. DC headers are equivalent if not worse than stock. AEM V2 does give gains but not that crucial. the exhaust is ok, but loud as hell iirc. the skunk2 im + the tb is NOT neccessary unless if you're turbo'd or seriously built, those are not optimal gains. tell the guy to put stock back in since he doesnt know what the expletive hes doing anyways. all those electrical "mods" are no better than stock for the power hes putting out. VAFC? thats just asking for trouble. and pulleys are seriously 50bucks. meet up with this guy and slap a ricer sticker on him and the car.
i bet a good driver in a stock lude can dust this fool
(not to be an e-racer or benchrace)

zip is 19464, i saw another lude mileage is kinda high for my taste 88k, dealer wants 11,999, lol ridiculous, i looked @ edmunds.com, dealers retail should be 9k tops i'll check it out and see what's up, as for the ricer kid i was gonna get the car from i'm gonna go out there and slap that ricer label on his forhead LOL.
