Ok, I have to ask a common but obvious question...is there gas in the car? If there's very very little, like not enough to run the car, as soon as you start it, it will either die right away, or idle, and if you tap the gas pedal it falls on it's face...

start with the obvious- check to ensure you have fuel to the injectors, then check to make sure your injectors are actually continuing to fire. sounds like a fuel-related problem to me- most times vac. leaks or ignition problems will not allow the car to start as yours does. so- supply, then delivery. report results.

If you need desperately to get it started, turn the ignition to the ON position and wait for 5 seconds, then the try to crank it.

Once my car was starting up and dying immediately too. I smelled fuel over where the injectors are, and found out that meant the injector o-rings were crusty and leaking. I replaced them and it worked.

(dont worry about replacing the expensive injector cushions, just do the little o-rings)

You might as well do the fuel filter too if you haven't yet, and clean the gunk off the injectors with some carb spray.

Code 16 is 'fuel injector problem'

I looked in the FAQs sticky on page one of the CRX/EF forum
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1508680

then followed the link about ECU codes to this:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=468260&page=3

Did you smell the fuel stink over your motor after you try to crank it?
