Default Best way to restore...

Paint on the interior?

Seems the PO of my car had once painted vents and junk in my car. Starting to see red show thru ><

Whats the best way to remove and repaint things like this?

sand and spray?

Thanks for your help!

What I have always done is to strip it with paint thinner or aircraft stripper. The stripper works faster, just dont leave it on plastic parts for too long. After you have removed all the paint, clean it real good. Then just lightly sand it or scuff the parts. Use some kind of plastic primer or adhesion promoter (bulldog a/p works best), let it dry for about 30min. then lay on your paint. Just take your time!!!

I'd be careful with the aircraft stripper...You best bet is to sand em smooth lay down a primer then paint

I have done it a few times without any problems. I only left it on for 5 to 10 sec. Probably just got lucky though.

Thanks for the input, any recomendations on what kind (Brand) of primer / paint to use?

And maybe a clear coat?

Also what kind of process I should do for sanding / primer / paint / clear coat - how many layers of each? How long to let dry? yada yada - can't find a nice DIY

Put them in a tub of brake fluid, it will leave the original texture on them and turn them back into the original color with out messing up he plastic.

i second this. paint thinner will make the plastic have a white film look that u cannot get rid of. brake fluid will do the trick. a real shame that people still paint their interiors

Got the paint removed, now I just need to get it back to its original color.

What paint / primer / clear coat should I use? I want to make it look as OEM as possible - not painted

--And process for this as well? Only thing I've ever painted is a bathroom lol

Thanks for help so far guys

i used "back to black" from duplicolor and it looks like black plastic it mad for vinyl plastic etc, did the trick for me and seems to hold up better the most regular paints it's made for exterior trim pieces
