Default 2002 cruise control goes in/out

Hello-

Recently I have noticed on my completely OEM 02 Civic, the cruise control works intermittently... but more often just flat out doesnt work. The green light on the cruise switch turns on, but the wheel controls do nothing.

Any advice on where to look to find the problem?

Check the wiring to the switch on the dash. It's been known to be loose sometimes, especially if the dash was ever removed.

how would your cruise know if you put different width tire on? im running 215, which is far from the stock 185s. im not having a problem with it at all. Toyomatt84 can agree with me there, for he is running the same size also.

Thanks for the replies guys

I'll peek around in there to see if wiring is loose... I bet it is, because once I was actually using cruise control and after a bump it went completely out.

The car is completely 100% stock tires and all

The Cruise Control module doesn't take information from the hubs at all, so tire width would be 100% irrelevant.

Your transmission VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) tells the module what speed you are going.

oo i didnt kno that. I worked for benz over the summer and their cruse control sensor is totally diff. I had to replace a tire because it was a fucked up. (255) they gave me a (225) and after that the cruse control was never the same. But once i put on the right with tire the problem was solved.
P.S. good looks Matt

Check the connection to the Cruise switch on the dash. Sometimes, the plugs pop off.
