Potential New Prelude Owner Need Advice
Hey everyone. I had a 2002 Civic that I sold and then moved to a 99 Integra LS that got stolen from me. So now I am in the process of looking for another car and I was considering a 5th generation Prelude. I was just wondering how it was and how much you guys liked it. How is it power wise compared to the 2 previous cars I owned. Did you guys have any regrets buying a prelude? I am going to be using this car mainly to drive to work and school everyday but mods are likely on it so how is after market support? And the biggest thing I was wondering is are Preludes stolen often? I never heard about preludes getting stolen like Civics and Integras but was just wondering how much would I have to worry about theft and this car. Please guys I need all the in site I can so I can know if this car is right for me or if I should look else where. Thank You
In comparison to your first 2 cars... yes the prelude is the faster car. I personally have no regrets but for the fact that I bought an automatic prelude. Stay away from those btw. Preludes are not stolen very often. General public doesn't know much about them and seeing that they are a "rarer" car than both the civic and integra, the less there are to steal lol. Good luck

depending on how torquey your civic was, the 5th gen pigs would still blow the door off your integra/civic. this V-TECHNOLOGY is awesome in comparison to normal b18b1 econo-crap lol. Theft rate is not really an issue with preludes as much as civics and integras, a good alarm + club should be good enough. The thing about 5th gens is that the backseats dont really seat people, so if people are bumming rides off you on the daily, it gets annoying.
h22a4 > b18b1/ D17Z whatevers
if ur lookin for better power to weight ratio, look into the 4th gens. the VTEC models have h22a1's, and most 4th gen owners got jdm h22a's due to blown motors and stuff. the 4th gens are better performance cars imo, 5th gen is just pretty as hell.

alright good stuff so far guys....how about driving wise are they the same kind of thing as a integra/civic because I am still yet to drive prelude. Also how about after market support and gas mileage

no O2 sensor is like 9city/15 hwy (hehe i got o2 in today
)
i like the turning on my prelude better than my friend's integra, w/ the 63/37-ish weight i think it is, it feels like you're swinging through the turns. on a windy road, it feels like ur a kid again swinging from arm to arm on monkey bars, thats on stock suspension too. the base model out of the factory feels like that, im not sure about the SH's since they have ATTS which helps turns a lot for stock/bolt on driving.
aftermarket support is ok, for bolt ons and stuff theres a wide variet. for quality ur gonna have to get the custom stuff.
intakes- ebay will do if u dont have to have CARB#'s (AEM/injen for carbsticker ones)
header- stay away from DC
exhaust- depends what u want it to sound like, u have tanabe's line up, greddy etc.
suspension- Koni, bilstein, Tein, Neuspeed
strutbars and stuff- neuspeed, and i forgot the other one, u can get custom too
ECU/tuning- hondata / standalone (AEM EMS)
just search for what u want to do to ur car in out archives, there's plenty of useful info. good luck on your search for your babysix :]

lol i agree about the automatics. I regret buying one -_- Other than that, it's probably the car i love to drive the most and it's sexy as hell.
so far nothing but good things are there anything bad about this car? Also just curious how much does it take to fill up the tank ?
