The other morning the del sol made a strange noise and wouldn't start. Now I can't get the side button on the shifter to depress so I can move it out of park. It also won't start. I've tried using the key in the transmission lock which frees up the gears, but it still won't start even in drive. Could it be a neutral switch or is something else going on? Also the check engine light comes on when I turn the key. The fluids look fine.

Any ideas?

First start with seeing what Code the check engine light is throwing.
and second the car wont start in drive anyway, regardless of the side button Issure, it has to be in park.
