good start

but try to change the settings on the camera when taking close up pictures to the "close up" setting. Its usually the one with the flower symbol

The macro function is for super up close in detail shots. Usually under 2 feet. Not at all what you want to use on a car unless you are taking a picture of something very specific like a lugnut.

you wouldn't need a tripod in the middle of the day when there is more light.
I don't a lot about photography I'm kinda teaching myself. Keep playing with the camera you'll get it down.
FYI is you turn on the flash in the day it will help out with the "blurryness" from movement, also make the pictures a lil crisper

and light up the reflectors in you headlights/taillights. You dont want to use flash at all unless you absolutely have to. It can ruin pics.

but doesn't it help with the focus of the camera too??

like with this one

it should focus more on the "up front" stuff and make the picture a lil cleaner.

I usually put it on the "flower" setting them zoom in. But you may need to get further away for better focus point.

I'm still learning like the OP so don't give me 30 lashes just yet

the "flower" setting your referring to is either macro or portrait i cant really decide but the camera wont zoom in macro mode.

nah not trying to give lashes haha. Just saying that is the macro function. The definition of macro is a picture that portrays the subject in actual size or larger. So its for super up close shots. It can make farther away shots very blurry. In order to bring out a subject like you are saying, with a semi blurred background, you need a wide aperature. Some P/S cameras have this adjustment some do not. Anyway, enough with the thread jack.... on with the comments.

Again, clean car electron

I'm just calling it "flower" setting because it sounds funny and its easier to visualize and find on the camera

what camera do you have btw??

sell it or return it back

get the Kodak z740

great, cheap p&s camera for the price
handles like a SLR
I use to have one and loved it
the z650 is on clearance now at Target and Sears
thats what I use now

I think they are anywhere from $100-$150
