code 23....but vtec still engages?

code 23 (knock sensor)....but vtec still engages?
ok i finally got around to wiring up my vtec on my ls/vtec, but i have a problem. i kno that when the CEL for a knock sensor (code 23) comes on the vtec should be disengaged. but for some reason my vtec still kicks in like normal. im using a brand new knock sensor so im curious if the knock sensor would actually be bad seein as how it came on within 10 seconds of the car bein on. can anyone help me out. thanks in advance.

ok i did more research on this subject and it turns out that i need "shielded wire" where do i get some of this wire? if i read it correctly this is wat is required for the knock sensor, can anyone help me out to find out where i can get this wire? thanks
