Its a start...
Ok, so I'm somewhat (almost completely) new to the whole "This is an engine, these are spark plugs" phase of learning about engines.
However, today I managed to change the headlights, taillights, replace the brake switch for the taillights and install a short ram intake on my del sol.
So it begins....

Wonderful, but if there's no technical question, this topic belongs somewhere else.
Anywho, congratulations, I hope you didn't start with altezzas and halos, but whatever. Read up in the FAQ's and learn. It will help you a lot to research at least those, and you'll get yourself a good start.

Sorry, all. didn't realize if there wasn't a question, you shouldn't post here.
I have been using the search, and reading a whole crapload of posts on various things.
The altezza's on the back came from the last owner. I'll change them eventually.
Oh, and nix, I drive a 95 del sol Si, non VTEC, 5 spd.

Err..
You sure about that?
The Si came with a Z6 (VTEC) motor.
You may just have a del sol S...or somebody owned the original motor and threw a non-VTEC replacement in there just to get around.
And yes, wrong forum.
Good job on your new skills and hopefully you'll keep learning and tackling bigger / harder projects.
EDIT:
In the near future you may wanna think of distributor cap & rotor, spark plugs, and spark plug wires.

Well I'm not trying to beat it into him but either it's not an Si or the original motor took a ****.
Just puttin him on the "FYI" list.

Ok, I was under the impression that the Si (127 hp motor) was different than the 160 hp VTEC. I just decoded my VIN and it shows that it is a Civic Del Sol Si (Numeral 6 in the eighth position), and it shows a 7 in that spot as a Civic Del Sol VTEC.
I just assumed that they were two different creatures.

If the engine is non-vtec then it will say honda on the valve cover. If it is vtec it will say vtec. Pop the hood and check it out. Vtec engines also have a vtec solenoid.
Ok, so it says vtec on the valve cover.
so now I'm really confused. How do I tell which model it is, and thus what the hp/tq numbers are? Hrm. search function...

you ahve the z6 look to the left of the valve cover, youll see a little metal cap. like the size of a soda bottle cap, just longer, thats your vtec solenoid.
or what you could do is easily just look at the block number, it should say d16z6

That's always true.
I forget the exact years of the engines that had VTEC covers. None of the 96-00 VTEC engines said "VTEC" on the cover. I think 2 years in the 92-95 generation said "VTEC" on the cover, but I forget which and if that's even true.
Anybody know for sure?
