Default '95 Accord Noise

Well, I posted a topic about this before, but I can't find it now.

When letting off the accelerator in my '95 accord LX, I get a noise that starts out high and turns into a low grinding noise. (Sounds like a metal on metal noise perhaps) However, this only happens when I'm going over 50mph. Any ideas as to what it could be? I've already checked the exhaust, and it's not rusted out and the hangers are all intact.

Also, I forgot to mention that the noise stops when I apply the brakes. (No ABS)

Thanks in advance,
Chris.

I read that the mid-exhaust gasket is known to cause problems in the 94 & 95 models. Anybody know anything about it?

Yes, the brakes have been inspected.

The noise itself seems to come from the center of the floor in the rear of the car.

I would suggest inspecting the heat shielding for the exhaust system; particularly the converter shield. The upper portion sometimes breaks loose (or corrodes over time) and set up a horrendous noise at certain rpm ranges.
I would also confirm the systems' alignment. It could have a proximity problem....

Seems like corrosion of the shielding could be a reasonable solution, as the problem was intermittent to begin with, and anymore, it doesn't happen.
