The keyway is located on the crankshaft. You can probably get new keyways from Honda if need be.

there are keyways on both the camshaft and crankshaft. and no, you can't buy new "keyways" from Honda. You can however buy new keys that go into the keyways. The keyways are a part of the camshaft and crankshaft themselves, not an individually replaceable part like the key that goes in there.
if you can, take pictures and post them, tomorrow is fine. I would like to see the extent of the damage.
There may also be problems where he can't see right now. If the key broke or if the keyway stripped, it's a good chance the gear slipped. Meaning that since this is an interference engine it's possible that the pistons could have made contact with the valves, in a sense very much like what happens when a timing belt snaps.

You're right, I said keyways and meant keys.
I didn't know the camshaft was keywayed! Good to know.

yep, how else would you keep the cam gear from slipping?
the cam gear may have a built-in key that is not replaceable but it is keyed. I just cant remember if it is built-in or separate.
