Relay or Blower Motor
Got in today and was treated to buring plastic/motor smell. Blower does not blow, but the AC still comes on. Fuse is fine.
How can I test the relay before I buy a new motor. The relay looks fine and I doubt that it could have made that smell. I am pretty sure that it is the motor, but I just want to be sure beforehand.
Any tips on the motor replacement?

blower resistors can very well make a burning plastic smell. they handle alot of current and with out the blower motor blowing on them it will burn em out in a short time...check the connector after the resistor and before the blower motor...see if voltage is present in the different positions of the control head...if no voltage present then most likely bad resistor..if voltage is there...need a blower motor
yeah, resistors can definitely make that smell. On my car the motor seized and wouldn't spin. So without the motor spinning to cool the resistor the resistor blew and thats exactly how it smelled. I took the resistor out and it was noticeably damaged. I replaced the resistor and blower motor and all was good.
Thanks.
After a few days of no reply, I tested the relay and it had voltage coming out. I bought a motor and that was it. I had to install it twice since I wired it backwards the first time (no idea which color was positive or negative).
All is well now.
