Default 04 EX Double Din Install

I am trying to install an Eclipse AVN5435 into my 2004 Civic EX and there is this huge metal bar that is blocking the head unit from being pushed all the way in. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you fix it? Is it OK to hack the metal bar with a saw to make the unit fit?? And if I do cut it should I reinforce it by welding a flat bar across the top?

Wow, What a coincidence i have the same radio in my civic.. Good news!! You don't have to cut anything, Just make sure you keep it clean back there. Zip tie and tuck the wires away where it won't interfere with the back of the radio and just push it in. It took me a few tries to get in, but it went in. Here's a pic of what it will look like

that looks nice...I think they have that on special at Super Autobacs here by were I live..for only 599.99. It was tempting, but I wasn't sure there was a double din kit for it..

Yeah I wouldn't be hacking said bar man thats part of your frame... I had the same problem. I went a bit of a different route though with mine, custom console for cd player.

Just wondering does those type system sound well? I was thinking about getting that or a flip out monitor. The flip out ones I don't really care for because they will wear out after a while and blocks my air vents. Just wondering if they done good as far as sound quality and if you can hook up the sub cables to it?

High end you lookin at almost 500, but you can pick them up new for around 300 if you shop around... I went with it even though I have the se double din radio originally so that when I go boost I can put a custom 3 gauge pod that I have been working on fabing up so I don't have gauges stickin off the pillar for the world to see

Thats a really good idea. I'm thinking about boosting but man its a lot of confusion for me cause I've never delt with Turbos, but yeah the gauges there would be awsome, kind of like the ones the 07 Evos have in the MR editions that flip down under the radio. Def. like the idea

It does have a detachable face but it is one of the sturdiest I have dealt with. It also has a 3 or 4 position tilt function which comes in handy for getting a better view. As for the small screen size It has the video out feature so I eventually plan to hook up an extra monitor prolly in the passenger visor

Dont take any offense guys...but that JVC unit looks cheap and nasty. No wonder you can get it for 300. Again, sorry if I offended anyone.

well no offense taken but the retail when it first hit the market was closer to seven hundred and as I said as someone who actually owns the unit it works great and has so far proved to be more durable than any pioneer, eclipse, sony, or kenwood unit that my roommate or I have owned.

Hi
Can you tell me where you got the double din kit for the head unit?
Also did you also need to get a connector kit? Thanks.

Jason.

Quick question ... from someone who just got an indash DVD player like the one above stollen . . . how do you keep the double din from getting jacked? just wonderin because i truly want a double din but im scared . . . I know theres not really a good answer because you can do things like alarm and stay out of a bad neighborhood but still . . im scared.

the pedals have LED inserts in them. and then in the passenger foot well i installed a blue neon tube up under the glove box. there is also a neon tube in the trunk that hits to my subs. all of them are wired back to the 3 red switches on the center console.

i dont use the lights much anymore but when i installed them i thought they were cool and its great for parties in teh desert lol
