I had the same thing one time, but I doubt it is the same thing, I turned my engine off immediately, the scratching was still there. open the hood, and a very scared cat jumps out!

apperantly, he thought it would be a good napping area.

the cat isn't mine, but one of our neighbors, any time I drive down the street this cat gives me nasty looks, it used to come over and try to get me to pet it, but he hates me and my car now

probably not the same thing.

what kind of scratch is it? can you discribe it by writing an everyday sound it closely approximates. your abs pump could, by a stretch of the imagination, be described as a scratch, but it is a pump, and a normal sound...

anyway, anything more discriptive of the sound would be great.

edit: oh yeah, and any ideas of exactly where it is coming from? left of the engine bay? right? under? on top? any ideas?

it was like metal scratching metal.After i turn my engine off then on it scratches sometimes. sounds like scraping noises

u sure your car is off when you re-start it? heheh some dumbasses do that alot and you hear their starter scratch cuz they forget their car is already on.

 

Do you have a aftermarket lightened flywheel?
