Default Can I swap tranny's?????

I got a 2k prelude sh and I was wondering if I can swap to another tranny? Apperantly the 5th gen prelude tranny's can't take as much abuse or power. I was thinking of a Accord or even 4th gen prelude tranny. Does either one or any other one bolt right up?

hhhmmm... I know that with the h22a the trans from the f22a fit good. Since it's basically the same engine, but w/ obdII, I'd think that a 4th gen tranny would bolt up just fine. Can someone back me up?

Well I figure since the accords 90-01 and 97-99 acura cl's and the 97+ preludes share the same clutch kits it's gotta have some similarities.

ya, but u dont want an f-series one because of the crappy gear ratios, trust me! i've heard some things about the sh being different, but i dont know. if its the same get the m2b4 jdm lsd from the 4th gen lude, plus it has the best ratios

Whats wrong with the gear ratios? I don't think I would mind longer gear ratios, to me that just means a longer time in boost.

i think with the sh block you can only use a sh tranny....the base block you can use the other trannies

That isn't true, You can bolt any H series tranny to any H series motor.

The 5th gen tranny is, for all intents, identical to the 4th gen tranny other than gear ratios. I don't think you would want to swap the original tranny from your 2000 model year car to a used tranny that is 6 to 10 years old and likely has considerably more milage on it...

The point is moot anyway because the Type SH cannot accept a Base model tranny (4th or 5th gen). The reason it won't work is because the input shaft length is different on the Type SH.

i guess its all a matter of opion. i hate my f-series, but im not boosted, unless u count n2o. but i think shorter gears=more accel=better times, but ill let you know im going back to my lsd one

The 4th Gen Prelude trannies are geared more towards acceleration while the 5th Gen trannies are spaced out slightly more. 5Th Gen owners would see an increase in performance if using the 4th Gen tranny.
I wouldn't reccomend using an accord transmission unless you have FI planned because of the outrageously spaced gears and small final drive.
After playing around with the gear ratios from the Accord and 4th Gen Prelude, i've noticed that on an H22 platform using the Accord tranny, the Accords 3rd gear would produce the same pulling power as the Preludes 4th gear. Est. 180mph top speed if you could pull to redline with the Accord Tranny.

Well I am turbo charged already makeing 245whp@6psi... I'm asking cause now that I figured that you can't add a lsd on the type sh tranny I think I'm going to buy a base block, find a accord tranny and add a lsd to it. I think I rather keep my sh tranny and add a lsd but apperantly I can't.
