im pretty sure its a lil diff. in cali. but i had to go through a bunch of bullshit, it paid off though. first i had to get a bonded cert. of title form at the dot and have that filled out by a insurance bondsman (most insurance companies charge about 50 bucks to fill out the bond). then mail the form back to the dot. The dot sent a guy to have my vin#'s checked out and he replaced the old vin number w/ a new one and stuck a new vin# between the door. Later that week i got a letter from the dot that said to request a rider to transfer my old vin to the new one, so i took the letter to the insurance comp. that filled out the bond and they filled it out a rider which replaces the old vin w/ the new one and faxed it back to the dot. after that i got a letter in the mail that said it went through and i could get my replacement title at the local dot.
finally got my plates
all together it took about 2 close to 3 weeks and it will only work if you have proof that you bought the vehicle.
pm'd about the hatch too (do you have a bill of sale or the old title for this hatch though)

In cali it depends on the car, like skylines everyone knows easily 12.5k-15k through stupid CARB. I had a RHD DB9, almost registered, DMV were idiots who didnt know their head from their *** and made me go back 3 times till i talked to the right person who knew and gave me my temp registration. Then I got an appt. to check that all 3 vins matched and other saftey stuff, but unfortunately JDM only have 2 vins so they sent me to CHP to check out that the car was not stolen and was clean and check the parts out. CHP cleared OK! Then the worst part SMOG, i had to go to a smog ref then he seen my car and knew exactly what he was dealing with and told me i had to get all the proper smog stuff at CARB station. Called and said it was gonna run me about 4k to get it all checked then it might be a little more if they ran into issues then i decided to sell. Now i regret it since where i live in Georgia there is no smog DAMMIT!
so you use to have a skyline or a silvia sr20, there both bad *** cars.. i hear that the smog test are a bitch too, if you take a car from a diff. state to california do you have to have it tested if you want to register it there or is that **** just for a bonded title. just thinkin if theres an easier way to get around the smog tests. if you could take the vehicle out of state and get a bonded cert. of title then bring it back w/ the new title and have it registered, depending on if california does smog test to every car they have registered in the state, it would prob. help get around that problem.
lmk a price tag on the civic tho, i pm'd you 2 or 3 times with some offers but no response?? now that ive done it before i can easily get this registered as long as it has the two vin # still there

My bad I should of clarified, I had neither, I had a RHD Integra and bought it from a legit person in Cali who deals with skylines and told me the hassle he goes through when selling them. My own hassle was with my integra, not nearly as bad or expensive as skylines. As long as your car was smogged in your state and have some kind certificate to be smogged you might be fine, when goin to cali to register. BUT if you are like me and and have no smog requirements and try to register in Cali your gonna have to go through BS smog crap again. The best advice I got was from the smog ref and said to register it in another state with lower smog requirements then bring to Cali, much easier or live somewhere that doesnt deal with smog laws!
thats the wrong side panel.
but dont you need to have a house or something to register a car in another state?
maybe i can rent an apartment for the summer in arizona to get some utilitie bills out there ?
